Yahoo shuts down when I enter chat

You need to change password for yahoo mail and it will in turn change the password for messenger.

1. From the Yahoo! Home page, click on your user name in the upper right.(You will need to be signed in already)
2. From the drop down select Account Info
3. You will be asked to sign in again to enter your Account Info page.
4. Click Change your password
5. You will be taken to a page that will look like the one below.
   
   
6. Enter your current password.
7. Enter and confirm your new password.
8. Click Save. You will see a confirmation page when you have successfully changed your password.
9. Click Continue.

Your Yahoo! password always applies to your entire Yahoo! account. This means that it is valid not only for Yahoo! Mail but also for Yahoo!'s other personalized services like :

• Yahoo! Messenger
• Yahoo! Chat
• My Yahoo!
• Yahoo! Finance

Try reinstalling Yahoo messenger, If you are on a browser try reinstalling adobe flash and java

The problem may be at any end (Your, your friend and Yahoo server)
You said it got worked after sometimes, so the issue might be on Yahoo server update...

1. uninstall yahoo messenger then restart your computer..

2. install it using the new version localted at http://messenger.yahoo.com

3. if not successfull, your computer maybe infected with spyware or virus..

can you try installing a different version of yahoo messenger? preferably the latest version. I dont think theres a virus in it but i think there are some corrupted files on your yahoo messenger that made it to shut down improperly.

i think you must install the web cam drivers again. it will solve your problem.

you dont indicate if what internet connection are you using, maybe your internet connection is coming from another computer through residential gateways that your connection has been firewalled, thats why everytime you entered to a chatroom you are disconnected..

or if your using a direct connection maybe you dont enter a right verification code cause before you enter to such yahoo messenger rooms there is a verification request to be filled up, for spam use

in that messanger yahoo chat is available theri u clik join the room after then click enter chat and verifcation wil display selct and clik you chat will started

try to login to the yahoo webmail and check whether you are able to login to chat from there , If yes
Safe boot the computer and remove yahoo chat from your comp and restart and reinstall yahoo chat programme
You can also try from different chat browsers which support yahoo like Koolim.com - just to check if it is not and issue with your browser or chat programme
