Yesterday I wanted to print a page, but I got the message the black ink cartridge was empty so I replaced it. After I replaced it I started to print, but it only printed colors, while all the black text was not.
I already tried soaking the head in water, but it appears to be the black ink just doesn't flow through the head, while all other colors do.
If the cartridge is not flowing...I would NOT soak it in water as that can flow back into the cartridge...remove it and use a q-tip with rubbing alcohol to clean...then you can use toilet paper to rub across it to make sure its flowing...you should get a solid black line...be sure not to touch where the electronics connect to it...if you do, clean it with the alcohol also
Testimonial: "Got it partly to work, but after one nice print in black... it again got worse, up until now when it won't print black at all anymore. "
sounds like the new cartridge you got may be old and the ink is clogging in it...try "clean printer cartridge" in utilities and then remove and reclean with the q-tip with alcohol again...it may take a few times to get it to work
sounds like the ink in your new cartridge is old and clogging
personally, im known for not giving up...sometimes to a fault...i would run the clean cartridge utlity and clean by hand several times
and make sure you clean the contacts on the cartridge...oils from your hand can foul the connections

You will have to do he print alignment for it do the "right click on printer" and select the properties option check if i any tab you get the advance or print alignment option click on print alignment. if you still get the same problem then you will have to clean the cartridge head and check the nozzle or change the cartridge.

Thanks for the replies.
When I soak the head, I first remove the cartridge and after putting the cartridge back in I make sure the head is drie.
I've tried to clean the head with with alcohol, but it just doesn't do the job. When putting any other color cartridge in the head it almost instantly flows through the openings of the head, while the black color gets absorbed, but doesn't get out through the head opening.
I just managed to get a black print, but just for one page, and it wasn't a very clear one. The next pages were just worse than the first one, until now no black is printed whatsoever... I guess the ink is just moving too slow through the head?? don't know what to do with it, and can't find a seller on ebay that would ship the head for an i865 to The Netherlands.
Well, the ink from the black cartridge itself flows out really easily (tested with toilet paper). But when putting the black cartridge into the printer head nothing won't come out of the bottom of the head. Other colors, for example the yellow, start to flow out of the bottom of the printer head when putting the yellow cartridge in the printer head. So only the (large) opening for the black ink won't release any ink... only after many deep cleanings it may happen several lines are printed in black, and after that it stops printing black again

I'll buy a new one tomorrow and let you know if it will solve the problem. I just don't understand that the ink in this cartridge is clogging, because it colors tissues black in a few seconds...
well I don't think it are the contacts. because you can test if the ink flows through the printer head very easily. You take out the head from the printer, then take a cartridge and put it in, while holding a tissue on the header's spraying mouth where the ink comes out when printing. If ink appears on the tissue it means the ink flows properly. Clearly, the black ink doesn't flow, or very very slow...
