Solution 1
Lauch Windows Task Manager.
End wgatray.exe process in Task Manager.
Restart Windows XP in Safe Mode.
Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32.
Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32\dllcache.
Lauch RegEdit.
Browse to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify
Delete the folder 'WgaLogon' and all its contents
Reboot Windows XP.
Note: With this method, you may be prompted to install WGA Notifications again which can still be unselected.

Solution 2
1-Launch Task manager
2-End process WGAtray.exe
3-Quickly restart in safe mode.
4-Click start, then Run. Type regedit and click ok.
5-Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
6-Click Software, microsoft, windowsNT, currentversion, winlogon, notify.
7-On the right hand side find folder WGAlogon and delete it and all of its components.
8-Restart in normal mode.
9-Go to c:\windows\system32 and delete WGAtray.exe file.
10-Next to it should be WGAlogon.dll, delete this too.
11-Delete from recycling bin and reboot.
This should have solved the problem but i advise switching your automatic updates to
"Notify me but dont automatically download or install them". This should advise you if your computer tries to download WGA again.
Solution 3

For windows XP SP3 users try this method
1 Lauch RegEdit.
2 Browse to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify
3 Delete the folder 'WgaLogon' and all its contents
4 Reboot Windows XP.

Solution 4
Disabling and renaming the files 'WgaLogon.dll' and 'WgaTray.exe' in C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder by using the program Unlocker seems to get rid of all the nags/popups.
Solution 5
Another alternative suggest that three files are installed Windows XP System Folder for WGA:
\WINDOWS\system32\WgaLogon.dll
\WINDOWS\system32\WgaTray.exe
\WINDOWS\system32\LegitCheckControl.dll
The wgatray.exe process makes the check for genuine windows software. If WgaLogon.dll is denied execution right, that WinLogon is unable to call it to check on Windows validity and display notification package at boot, and since WgaLogon is also responsible for running and maintaining WgaTray.exe, no more tray popups either.
To change and disable the execute bit of WgaLogon.dll:
Turn off Simple File Sharing in Tools -> Folder Options -> View tab.
Right click WgaLogon.dll in Windows Explorer and open the Security Tab.
Click Advanced button.
Uncheck the Inherit box at the bottom.
Click the Copy button.
Click OK.
Go through each listed user/group and remove the "Read & Execute" permission for WgaLogon.dll, leaving the "Read" permission as-is.
Click OK to apply the permission changes.
Close the file properties dialog.
Restart the computer.
Turn "Use simple file sharing" on (optional).

How to Reduce Spreading of Virus on the Hard Drive

An insight in VIRUS INFECTION and VIRUS SPREADING In today's computing spreading of virus is fast and very common. Even with an up to dated antivirus software the spreading of the virus infection is fast. This is because, we are not aware of how the virus spreads in our system. Once we know how the virus infects and spreads in our system then we will definitely reduce the risk, time and money spent. Here is a short insight about viruses: 1) Virus is a small program code enabling it to to mingle or merge with other program codes. 2) The Virus Program Code is written such that it deletes data, corrupts data, steals data send it to the maker of the code, etc. 3) The virus cannot run on its own. It has to be executed just like other exe program files. That is why the autorun.inf file is required. Now for an insight how we get infected: 1) Thorugh the internet: Usually when we browse any web site files are downloaded from the web server to our temporary internet folder(in windows) Then our Browser software reads the files and executes them in the browser window for us to view the web site.( If you are a website Designer you would understand this for others get an insight how internet browsers work), So when we are in the internet Virus files attach themself to the downloading files and enter our system in the temporary folder, From here they are executed by our browser software or when any program accesses the temporary folder. 2) Another one is we download a lot of data from the internet, we should be careful on what we are downloading because if the data downloaded is infected with virus then we are downloading the virus to our system along with the data, Don't download the data unless you are sure you could trust the maker of the data, program,etc. 3) From other medias like Flash Drive, CD's, DVD,s,etc.: We copy a lot of data to our computer from our friends and relatives, so if the data is already infected with virus we copy the virus to our system also, when we run os use the data the virus is executed along with it. Now for an insight how Virus Spreads: Just like any other program code the virus code has to be executed. That is why the virus merges with other exe's which are executable and not with the data file. For eg: a file with .avi, .dat, .3gp, etc. all these files are data files they dont execute, but they are used by exe files like wmplayer.exe, winamp.exe, vlplayer.exe, etc. The .avi .dat .3gp files are data files, the wmplayer.exe, winamp.exe vlplayer.exe are program files. Thus mostly exe program file get infected with virus. Usually when our system gets infected and any antivirus program cleans our system you can notice that the windows media player or winamp player or vlc media player does'nt work because it is removed or deleted by the antivirus for virus infection but the songs or video you saved is unharmed in the harddisk. That is why the virus code hangs or merges or infects mostly exe program files, So that it is executed along with the program file. So when you run an infected windows media player to play a song the virus code is also run along with the windows media player. Thus the virus is run again and again. There are hundreds of program files in the os for doing various tasks. we are going to look into just one program which the virus uses to spread itself in our system. The Program is non other than explorer.exe in windows. This program is needed to view or browse the data files stored in the hard disk. When we double click the My Computer Icon on the desktop the explorer.exe is executed which show you a window on your screen with the hard disk drives and cd dvd drives in the windows Now you can imagine how frequently you use the explorer.exe. You use it to view any data on the computer, even our desktop uses explorer.exe. This program is executed right when windows logs us on. When this program file is infected, it keeps on executing the virus each time we use the program. by this method the virus spreads fast to every parts of the hard disk. Likely there is a method to avoid executing the virus along with the explorer.exe each time we use it. When we double click any icon or object on our windows screen we execute the default command in the right click menu. Usually it is the Run Command. for eg: when you double click word the word.exe runs, similarly when we double click the my computer icon the default right menu option is Open which run the explorer.exe program. Instead of using this method to view files and data in our system we could use an alternate method which is using the explorer menu option when we right click my computer or right click the windows start button or in fact the explorer option is there whenever you right click any object on the screen. By using this explorer option in the right click you get a window with two panes one to the left and one to the right. In the left pane you have the directory structure showing all the directories and folders in our hard disk and in the right pane the content of the directory or folder selected in the left pane. Thus in this process we dont execute any code or program command when viewing the data in our hard disk. because we do not execute the explorer.exe more than once. So, Imagine how we reduce the spreading of virus by using this method. Say you have a file saved in your hard disk in this location C:\data\monday\20-11-2010\office\media\todaysjob.doc If you want to open the file with word we will double click my computer, then double click C Drive, then Double Click data folder,then double click monday folder, then double click 20-11-2010 folder, then double click till you come to the media folder then you double click the todaysjob.doc which will execute the word.exe program which reads the data in the todaysjob.doc file and displays the content as required. In this process see how many time you will execute the virus, You will run the virus Seven Times. In our Alternate method You will run the Explorer.exe only once, Then on you just navigate to the media folder then double click the todaysjob.doc file in the right panel. So you execute the virus only once. Hence you reduce the spreading of VIRUS to a great extend. Good Luck, If there are any mistake please bare with me, I am not a good writer. Are you using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox ?

Open Internet Explorer
Click on TOOLS option from menu bar on top ( or Ranch like icon on right side on tool bar )
Click on INTERNET OPTIONS
In the General Tab - Under Browsing History you will find - Delete Button.
Click on the button and click on Delete all button below.
put check mark on the option : Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons. and click Yes.
It will go thru the process of deleting the unwanted files and webpages and other data stored on your pc that is blocking the net access to browse.

Close the Internet Options and close Internet Explorer and try to open your website. Tt should work

For Firefox
Click on TOOLS ( from menu bar
Click on OPTIONS
Click on PRIVACY TAB on top
Choose the option - Clear all Current History.
Click OK and try to browse

Also Click on START button
Type " %temp% " and hit enter ( without " quotes " )
Select all the files shows in this folder and delete them.
These are temporary files and folders and you can delete them without causing any problem to your pc.

This helps run your PC faster too

Try to launch yahoo and it should open. your issue should be resolved.

To resolve this problem follow the steps below:

Open Internet Explorer.
Click Tools and then click Internet Options.
Internet Explorer 6
- Under Temprorary Internet Files click on Settings button.

- Under Browsing History click on Settings button.
Click Move Folder and change Temprorary Folder to different location.
Note: Make sure do not place the temp folder on C:\ or systemroot drive.
Optimize Internet Explorer.
Close Internet Explorer.
Try to open Outlook Express again. To resolve this problem follow the steps below:

Use the System Configuration utility (Msconfig.exe) to extract the original Helpctr.exe file to the Windows\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries folder on your hard disk. To do this, follow these steps:

Start your computer in Safe mode. To do this, restart your computer, press and hold down the CTRL key after your computer completes the Power On Self Test (POST), and then click Safe Mode on the Startup menu.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Extract File.
In the Specify the system file you would like to restore box, type helpctr.exe, and then click Start.
In the Restore from box, click Browse, and then browse to the C:\Windows\Options\Install folder, where C: is the drive on which Windows is installed, and then click OK.

NOTE: Use C:\Windows\Options\Install if you installed a Windows Me retail product, or C:\Windows\Options\Cabs if your computer manufacturer installed Windows Me.

Windows Me installs the cabinet files, by default, in the Windows\Options\Install folder. If these files are on your computer, you do not need your Windows Me CD-ROM because you can extract the Helpctr.exe from the appropriate folder on your hard disk.
In the Save file in box, click Browse, and then browse to your C:\ drive (where C is the drive on which Windows is installed), and then click OK.
Click OK to extract the file.
Click Yes to the The destination folder C:\ does not exist. Do you want to create it? message.
Click OK to the The file has been successfully extracted message, and then click OK to close the System Configuration Utility dialog box.
Start Windows Explorer: Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer. Locate the Helpctr.exe file that you extracted to your drive C.
Move the Helpctr.exe file to the C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries folder by right-clicking the Helpctr.exe file and selecting Cut. Navigate to the Binaries folder, right-click the folder, and then click Paste on the shortcut menu.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Helpctr.exe In the right pane, verify that the key is set to the following value: C:\Windows\PCHealth\Helpctr\Binaries\Helpctr.exe If this registry entry does not exist, create a new entry. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths
2. Right-click App Paths, point to New, and then click Key.
3. Type Helpctr.exe.
4. In the left pane, click Helpctr.exe.
5. In the right pane, right-click (Default), and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type C:\Windows\PCHealth\Helpctr\Binaries\Helpctr.exe, and then click OK.
On the Registry menu, click Exit to quit the Registry Editor.

Method 2

Launch Windows Explorer and go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage\data
Go to Tools -> Folder Option -> View.
Select (click) Show Hidden Files and Folders option.
Unselect (uncheck) Hide Protected Operating System Files option.
Click OK.
Delete everything in the data folder.
Right click on data folder, and select Properties.
Select (Check) Read-Only as the folder’s atributes.
Click OK or Apply.

Hi tater. Hmmm. The product category you selected is for a Standard E260. But if your player is an E250R (Rhapsody player), here's a set of procedures that might help you. Deleting songs from your E250R can be done in 2 ways: By using Windows Media Player 10 or 11, or by browsing the player through Windows Explorer. Before you delete files, though, it's important to know that your player comes in 2 modes: "Rhapsody" and "PlaysForSure". The reason why is that music files saved in one mode would not be seen in the other mode, and vice versa. Therefore, if you can't find the music files in your player, switch to the other mode. Here's how to do it: Use the "Menu" button to navigate the player as follows: Menu > Settings > Mode > This will give you the option of: "Rhapsody" and "PlaysForSure". Here's how to delete your songs: (1) By Using WIndows Media Player: > Plug your Sansa to your computer and open your Windows Media Player. > If your Windows Media Player is version 10, then click on the "Sync" tab and you should see your player ("E250R") on the right pane along with its folders, named "Data" and "Media" or "Music". Expand the "Media" folder and you'll see the "Music" folder containing your songs. Right-click on a song and select "Remove" to delete them. > If your Windows Media Player is version 11, then either click on the "Sync" or "Library" tab and you'll see your player listed on the left pane. The music files will be displayed on the center window. Right-click on a song and select "Delete" to delete the songs. (2) By browsing the player in Windows Explorer Note: the folders containing the music files on your player are "Hidden" and you would need to set your Windows Explorer to show "Hidden Files and Folders". Open your Explorer, select "Tools" on the top menu, select "Folder Options", select the "View" tab and enable the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" radio button. > Plug your Sansa to your computer and open your Windows Explorer > If your player is in "PlaysForSure" mode, then your player will be recognized as a "Portable Media Device". Double left-click on your Sansa E250R and you'll see 2 sub-folders named "Data" and "Media". Open the "Media" folder and you'll find sub-folders normally named after the Artist. Your songs are located on those Artist folders. Delete them by using the keyboard "Delete" key or right-click the file and select "Delete" > If your player is in "Rhapsody" mode, then your player will be recognized as a "Removable Drive" with a drive letter. Double left-click on your Sansa E250R and you'll see the following sub-folders: "Albums", "Music", "Photo", "Pictures", "Playlist", etc. Your songs can be found in the "Music" sub-folder. Delete them by using the keyboard "Delete" key or right-click the file and select "Delete" I hope this procedure helps. A bit lengthy but, hey, it worked for me (lol).

This error or system hang-up is usually caused by: 1. the camera driver software attempting to read a corrupted photo; or 2. there are too many photo thumbnails stored in the PhotoMAX temporary storage area. In either case, the problem can be corrected by manually deleting the Fun! Digital 320 camera thumbnails from the Polaroid Album (using the Windows Explorer or My Computer icons). Follow these steps to delete the Fun! Digital 320 temporary files: Step 1 -- Locate the temporary photo files If you are familiar with Windows Explorer, simply browse directly to: C:\Program Files\Polaroid\PhotoMAX SE\Digital 320 If you are new to browsing the file system, follow these steps: 1. Double-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop. 2. Double-click on the C: drive. 3. Double-click on the Program Files folder. 4. Double-click on the Polaroid folder. 5. Double-click on the PhotoMAX SE folder. 6. Double-click on the Digital 320 folder. Step 2 -- Delete the temporary photo files Inside the Digital 320 folder, you will see many files, most of which will be bitmap image files. All of the bitmap files that start with dsc_ (example: dsc_005.bmp) must be deleted. To delete the files, you can either drag them into the Recycle Bin, or highlight each file by single-clicking on it and pressing the Delete key on the keyboard. To select multiple files at once, hold down the Shift key on the keyboard as you click on them, then press Delete. IMPORTANT: Do not delete the following files from the Digital 320 folder: * 320popup.rtf * DscDrv_Polaroid.dll * Polaroid Album.exe
