Most of the time is is cheeper and less time consuming to replace the unit than to find what happen to it and then order parts to repair it.

CHANGE LIGHT BULB I BATH FAN

According to Broan's site - the model you specified has no light bulb - check specifications - you can search the site for the proper model and download the instructions.

Is there a quieter, alternative motor that can be installed in a NuTone 763RLN bathroom fan?

I just installed one of these; the directions were not really helpful, and I'm fairly handy doing these things. Anyway, the 'specs' say this is 2 sones, and mine is pretty quiet. I did have to tighten the acorn nut that is under the light bulb, that holds the light fixture to the rest of the unit pretty tight. My noise was coming from vibration, not the fan 'noise'.
