Error message I am trying to transfer a video recording onto a DVD and it started to show the error message on the front of the recorder "ERR-15". It now displays this message on the front of the machine whether it is turned on or off. The manual lists this as an error code but does not say what it is for or how to resolve it.
I forgot to mention that I am unable to burn anything onto a DVD because it keeps telling me that there is an error on the disk. I have tried using several DVDs and have successfully burned files in the past. The HDD seems to be recording as usual.I forgot to mention that I am unable to burn anything onto a DVD because it keeps telling me that there is an error on the disk. Try using suggested DVD media as suggested by Toshiba. DVD-R, or -RW, 4-8x, Fugi, Verbatim, or Kodak. When writing DVD, include All pretest. Seems to work for me so far.

1) pass the Disk cleaner buy to some radio schack, and test it 2) test the cable in another device, and determine if faulty or not. 3) if not clean the terminal from DVD VS TV with c.cleaner 4) otherwise the Syscom inside and another associates circuit is faulty such like record ampl. go to the repair shop for fix it. God bless you
Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.
If your dvd player only supports dvd+r discs then that is the only way it will record. It will only record once onto the dvd-rw and, since it doesn't support the re-writables, it won't be able to use this function. This is the most likely reason for the first error. The second problem is a little confusing. Is it when you are trying to record on dvd-rs or dvd-rws that it says it can't record?
I hope this post was helpful (for the first error, anyway).
Good luck! I hope everything works out!
Sincerely,
Der Strom
Sorry I can't answer directly but just wanted to suggest you bought a PVR or personal video recorder that uses a computer-type hard drive.
These devices are a lot less hassle when only short-term storage is needed and any content you want to keep can be recorded later onto hard copy. I still prefer vhs for that as it is possible to edit tapes or cut out bad portions if something goes wrong - not something easy to do if a cd or dvd gets damaged.
From comments posted on the Internet by other Sylvania users with a similar problem, I
learned that I had to use a 4X DVD-R (the ones I had been trying to record on were 16X).
And I found that Office Depot sells the sometimes hard-to-find 4X format, so that's where
I'm headed right after lunch. Thanks.

Same Problem with the R-DRIVE, but with PD-xs52
