My boston microsystem cd has stopped working. There's power, but nothing else. No clock, no sound nothing. Any troubleshooting suggestions?

I contacted Boston acoustics. I was told this is an intermittent problem with some units (mine is date april 2007). They say the radio will recover if kept unplug for 5 days. This is the time it takes for a huge capacitor on the main PC to discharge completely. They say a firmware upgrade can solve the problem.

So the idea is to leave it unplu for 5 days, plug it back and it should turn on again. I'm at day 3 and hpoing for the best.

I got the same problem. The radio worked perfectly before I unpuged it. When I tried to plug it back, nothing happens exept a dim blue light on the display and the power button.

I opened the radio, Voltage looks ok. My guess is the mainboard needs to be replaced. I wrote to Boston Acoustic to find out if it's available or not and how much it will cost.

I think many got the same problem. maybe the battery has something to do with it because a friend of mine got the same radio withn no battery and he unplugs and plugs it back all the time and it works fine. Mine had the battery in. I'm just guessingm but I'm sure Boston Acoustics engineers know what's going on. Maybe this explians why the model was discontinued. They will all end in the garbage can.

It worked. I left it unpluged for 5 days and it's back. Just like the engineer at Boston Acoustics said. Now I need to decide if I send it for a firmware upgrade.

    Hope this helps.

Microsystem CD wont eject

I know I've come to this late, but here goes anyway...
When you press eject and the CD starts to come out, but gets stuck when a little bit of the CD is showing, I lightly press down on the CD which 'releases' whatever was catching the CD and the eject completes.

The clock light in my MicroSystem cd burned out. Can it be replaced?

Yes it can! but in order to replace the bulb the unit must be taken apart and the old one removed from behind the LCD display that is sold-ed in.

My "MicroSystem CD" will not start. I've

Hey...if your system is less than a year old it may be covered by the warranty, if not remove the cover to access the inside of unit. Near the power supply inside there is a fuse, it may be blown. Can be found at local electronics supply. Good luck.

My "MicroSystem CD" will not

Have you got an external ariel for your FM Radio? Bet this is the problem!! But it's not as scary as it sounds. Get any two-strand wire (Speaker wire is the easiest for a novice to get), but if the two wires just happen to be one red and one black, even better. You only need about 5 cm for each piece. Trim about 3mm of plastic off one end of each wire, and twist the bare copper in your fingers . Now locate the Antenna jacks on the back of the unit You could have between two and eight. The will be coloured black and red. Take your bare copper wires and insert them into these fittings. If you have the black and red wires, black wire goes to black fitting. I hope this solves your problem.

We unplug our microsystem at night to save electricity. Now, it does not turn on although I can tell there is electricity because there is some light on the on/off button and display window, but the time...

I got the same problem. I wrote to Boston Acoustics to see what they say. I think the PCB needs to be replaced, but it shouldn't have failed in the first place. My radio just like yours worked perfectly before it was unpluged. It doesn't make sense that a radio that pricy fails just like that. I will let you know what Boston Acoustics says.

Have a Boston Acoutics Microsystem-all that comes on is the backlite on the display. No matter which buttons or combination, no response. 9 v battery fine. Simply won't come on. Anyone with any ideas?

See my other post. This is a common problem with this radio. Leave it unplug for 5 days, and it will recover. This is the time it takes for a huge capacitor to discharge inside. Somehow, unde rare circumstances, it locks the software. I was told by Boston Acoustic that a firmware upgrade solves this intermittent problem. If its still under warranty, ask for the upgrade. Otherwise, when it happens, unplug for 5 days and you're fine.
