Your ipod may be corrupted and will need to be wiped and restored.
First of all try another lead to connect your ipod to pc.
Also look inside bottom of ipod to check no bent pins in ipod dock.
Also reinstall itunes incase of program corruption.
If still not working you will have to put ipod in disk mode.
Switch ipod off then switch hold button on and off then hold down centre putton and bottom pause button until TICK appears. You are in Disk mode.
Go to file explorer and right click your ipod if shown,Chose FORMAT then chose restore device defaults and restore. Once formatted open itunes and connect ipod with good lead.Ipod can now be restored from backup or a clean restore can be done
Since iPods are basically big hard drives with special software and a screen, the hard drive in your iPod needs to be formatted. Formatting is essentially the process of prepping the drive to talk to the computer it connects to.
Luckily, you usually don't have to worry about formatting your iPod. Formatting happens automatically when you first set up your iPod. If you use your iPod with a Mac, during this process it becomes Mac formatted. If you use it with Windows, it gets Windows formatting.
If you want to clear the hard drive...the way you will format it you will double left click on "My computer" when the window opens you will have to find your Ipod amonst the listings...right click on it and select "format"...the follow the instructions Please take time to rate me
As I know iPod only support MP4 vidoe format with H264 code, and the largest resolution of iPod classic is about 640*480, so I suggest you to use Leawo iPod Converter to convert your video to MP4 and then sync into your iPod.
You need to format the ipod like a harddrive. Right now it is probably in fat32 (32 meaning 32 bit = 4,000,000,000 bytes of data, or 4 gb.) Try reseting your ipod in itenes.
If nobody has figured out this problem or if anybody else is having the same problem I have a solution that could possibly work. I had the same problem so I right clicked My Computer and went to Properties. Click on the Hardware tab, and then click on Device Manager. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers look for anything that may have a yellow exclamation point. Mine said something like Apple Ipod Driver or something along those lines. Right click that and click Update Driver... Then click Next and it should update it for you and work fine. Hopefully this will help anybody that is having this problem.
