There is a drawing in the manual, and it points to the special stitch dial, and then has an enlarged view of something. I can not find anything that matches the drawing.

Can you add a picture of your machine
Testimonial: "Thank you, but my machine is not configured that way"
or can you add a picture of the diagram
I just posted them - I thought I replied to this, but it added to the main message
diagram and view from the top
These are moving parts. so if you can run the machine you will see movement oil. My moto is "if moves give it a lube". If you have computer boards be extra careful around them not yo get oil on them. "A drop or two wiil do".. If you have any trouble please email me at [email protected]. I am a seamtress/Tailor.

It's just in the front panel, where the drawing of all the built in stitches are, it's the drawing number eleven from the left, you'll see a zig zag (red) and a straight stitch (black) Select A group of stitches (knob with the arrow) and then select the eleventh stitch (same knob but use the dial, look the manual) and then select zero on your stitch width dial. Hope that helps :)

SOURCE: My singer sewing machine will not do zig zag stitch the special stitch dial is not working properly
it would probably be a good idea to take the machine in to see if there is any broken or worn parts, since it will not do a zig zag stitch

Under top of unit there is a cam with different groves, the selector that runs along it is likely stuck and in need of oiling. If when Turing selector you do not see it move, that's the problem. There are 4 screws that hold that mechanism down, it can be removed shaft then oiled, and make sure the sping is also there and working
