I have a maytag neptune frontload washer model # MAH8700AWW . I had a normal load of laundry in it. NOt very grubby and not too full. The machine is about 3.5 years old. There was about 9 minutes left to go in the cycle and then I got the code nd. My laundry is sopping wet and there is a puddle of water in the washer. What can I do? My husband had to have his car towed this morning to the repair shop and I really can't afford to call a professional if I can help it unless there is no other alternative. I would appreciate any help. I have 2 toddlers and can't go without my washer for to long. Thanks!!!!!!!!
Yes maam, I sympathize with the situation. The "nd" code on the Neptune is usually a pump related issue. Check the drain line for kinks first, and then the pump will have to be checked. No matter how diligent we are, inevitably hard objects like pins, coins, etc., make it into the washer. Remove the hoses from the pump and using a flashlight, look into the suction port and check for any obstructions. Also check the pump impeller for any broken/missing blades and ensure that the impeller spins freely. If any blades are broken/missing or if you cannot get the impeller to spin freely, the pump is defective. Hard objects that make it to the pump can damage the impeller blades on the pump. Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

I have the same problem with dugi1. I have a 2 year old Maytag Neptune washer with an extended service warranty. We are five in the family and uses the washer 3 times a week. About 3 months ago, the "nd" code lit up and the washer did not drain. Called for service and a technician removed a penny lodged in the pump. After the service man left, noticed that the drum still makes jingling noise which sounded some more coins were lodged somewhere in the drum. The washer was working fine until the same problem occured on Christmas eve. Technician came 4 days later and removed again a coin. We asked him if he can remove the rest of the coins. But he said in order for the coins to be removed, the drum needs to be changed. He also said it's not covered under the warranty. It will be costly if i will have it done. He also said this will be the last time this kind of service will be extended to us. My warranty does not expire until 3 years from now. I believe its just a matter of time before this problem occurs again. We will not consider buying Maytag brand again. Since its a design flaw, Maytag should do something about this so objects can't drain to the pump. And they should also honor the extended warranty i purchased with the washer.
I've had one of thes Neptune washers for about 3-4 years. My wife and I have 4 kid, so it gets plenty of use. I've had this problem many times and it's usually because coins get caught in the pump and then the washer can't drain. If you take the back off the washer, the pump is right there. Disconnect both rubber hoses (make sure you have a wet vac) and remove the 3 mounting bolts that hold the pump to the washer. Usually you can look into the inlet and outlet ports on the pump and see a coin blocking the impeller from spinning. Remove the coin and reassemble and you're back in business. Frankly, this is a poor design by Maytag in that pennies, nickels, dimes, quarter,s bobby pins, etc. can all drain from the tank directly into the pump. The tank should have a screen or something to prevent this. Worst washer I have ever owned.

Thank you all for these tips and guides! I just found an Allen Wrench jammed in the pump of my 27" front load washer mah8700a. We've had this machine since 2006 and still runs like a champ! Never been serviced and thanks to you guys hopefully never will hahaha
Please advise me on any recalls and technical information involving error code 3E during a wash load, which appears related to be a faulty control panel. My machine is always shutting down each time it reaches the rinse cycle. Numerous consumers have been complaining about this same model at consumeraffairs.com. Replacement of the control panel is expensive at an average cost of 298 dollars and appears to be the corrective action for other consumers with error code 3E. Over current is not being detected at the motor. I'm disappointed with the quality of this washer considering I purchased it in 2005 for over 1,000 dollars. This problem has forced me to use a local laundry mat to wash my clothes. This error code is not listed in the User manual.
