In all honesty, if it came loose once it will again. There are videos on YouTube showing how, but it is a real pig of a job to do, and the damaged to the spring or housing that made it fail could do it again (inspect).
The easiest test to run on the generator is to remove the spark plug and see if it pulls easier. If it does then it is a compression problem. I doubt that is the case. If it does not then you need to take the generator off the motor and see if it still pulls hard.
there are 2 vent tubes that attach to vent tube fittings between carb 1/2 and carbs 3 and 4. they just sweep up over air box. i got a 91 slingshot, reckon its right mate. good luck nice bike
Switch generator to off. Remove 7.5A fuse. Disconnect Negative (-) battery terminal first and then Positive terminal (+). slide battery out the front (may be a tight fit) and install the new battery reversing removal steps. Connect (+) first and (-) last. Reinstall 7.5A fuse and switch to manual to start and test run.
If the pull start works, but the electric start doesn't try the following. Either give the battery on the generator a full charge, and if after a full charge it doesn't start, get a new battery.
Sometimes it is more expensive to fix the problem with the generator charging system than purchase a small 12v battery charger. I would purchase a 12v small battery charger (5A) that you can keep plugged into your house hold power. This will maintain the battery at full charge so it is ready to start when you need it.
