It happened last night, it was still working perfectly n when i woke up it defrosted then i turned the thermostat off and put it to "7" again but not getting cold. I hear a click then it disappears. I unplugged it , then turned it on again, don't hear a sound of it being on, but the compressor is still getting hot. The fridge is empty already and cleaned everything inside it. Plugged it , heard a click then did not turned on.
Is this mini fridge broken already, is it worth repairing or just buying another one. I just bought it in craiglist for half of the original price. The model # is MCBR445W1 white color.
Pls. advise. Thanks.
Ok In the rear bottom where the wires plug into the compressor. There will be a plastic cover plate over the connecting wires. Remove it. Unplug the white wire. note the white wire was plugged into a small black box (3/4"x3/4") pull the black box out. It is connected by 2 prongs. If you open this up you will find a small metal disk that looks like a watch battery. pop it out and clean the contacts. put it all back together and it should work fine. I believe it is the thermostat and many times gets bad contacts and can even crack over time. The compressor will "click" on but the bad thermostat tells it "no"
I did this with the first starter but it was cracked, so I replaced it. The next starter that I put in started up the fridge, but than after the first cycle, just clicking and hot compressor. I opened the starter up, rotated the disk, and reinstalled. Same thing - one cycle then clicking and hot compressor. I thought maybe the overload was bad so replaced that, didn't do anything with the starter, installed all and nothing. Took the starter apart again, rotated the disk, got one cycle then clicks and hot compressor.

I had the same issue - click, no start, hot compressor. Chad inkers blog had a step by step guide that fixed the problem in 3 minutes! Search for "chad munkers magic chef fridge relay" you will not be disappointed!
I believe the start relay and the overload has failed inside the compressor wire cover. Now if you need the parts let me know. I also would like to check the compressor windings to make sure they are OK . Sea Breeze
If you have more questions or need help feel free to let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze
