I have same problem - the instruction manual that came with the product does not explain how to use the Liquid function and I cannot figure out how to access this.
I wrote to Terraillon and their friendly customer support staff send me back the 1-page manual in pdf. Good on Terraillon!!

PRODUCT USAGE
Initialisation
This product comes with a CR2032 battery
already inserted into the scale. Please
pull out the small plastic tab attached to
the battery on the base of the scale and
it will be ready to operate.
Changing the measuring unit
To turn on the scale, press the ON/OFF/TARE
button located on the right side of the
unit. Everything on the display illuminates,
with the selected measuring unit indicated
on the top of the screen. Immediately after
the above occurs (within 2 seconds) press
the ON/OFF/TARE button repeatedly
to toggle between the various units of
measurement: fl.oz, oz, g, ml.
When you arrive at the desired measuring
unit, release the ON/OFF/TARE button and the
scale will set into that unit of measurement.
Please note that in order to change the
measuring unit again, you must restart
the scale and follow the same steps as
above.
