Kenmore Refrigerator Ice Maker

My 11 yr old Sears Kenmore SBS Refrigerator Ice Maker quoit filling/making ice. I felt under the unit and the refrigerant tube that freezes the water felt hot to the touch. I changes out the in-line Ice Maker Water Filter and also cleaned the coils under refrig thoroughly. Still wouldn't work AND now the Door gaskets are very warm. Freezer is running about 6 degrees and other side about 44. I'm pretty handy usually with these things but need some informed help. Ideas?

Ice maker won't make ice replaced water valve unit still no ice

Check it is filling with water.
Is it cold enough ?
If these two are ok - it may be the motor at the back or parts broken.

Ice maker seems to be dripping water onto ice in ice container

If it overfills and drips, look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water.

If it continuously drips, replace the water inlet valve on the back where the house water supply comes in.

Watch it when it fills with water. The fill tube could also be stopped up with ice. The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Water does not seem to be flowing into ice maker.

Hi and I hope this will help. You can manually turn the timer and see if any water is dispensed into the ice cube tray . If no water is dispensed check if the valve is any good . A solenoid in the valve opens to allow water in to the ice maker. Sometimes timers stick too.

Kenmore Ice Maker Not Making Ice

the water that is frozen in the fill tube could have come from the old water valve that you replaced ,you got to get the ice out, the easiest way ,though not the fastest ,is to unplug fridge for 24 hrs . and leave the doors open to let it defrost, the plug back up and hopefully in 5 or 6 hrs you'll have ice

Thin Ice on Whirpool Ice Maker

Hi

If  The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice maker is producing ice poorly When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

Please do rate the solution as "FixYa" if found useful and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

GE top freezer refrigerator automatic ice cube maker leaks water into the freezer, and eventually on the floor. Water seems to be coming from the area that fill up to make more ice cubes.

If it is leaking water in the freezer it will more than likely freeze amongst the ice cubes causing a block of ice.

It is more than likely leaking at the rear of the unit, near the valve or fill tube for the ice, this will run up the rear wall of the unit.

Kenmore Ice Maker

Sounds like a water valve problem to me. Force the ice maker to cycle. (turn it off and let it get cold for at least an hour then turn it back on). Test for voltage on the ice maker side of the valve. The valve is usually in the back near the floor. Just follow the water line. Another solution. switch the wires on the water valve. then try the water dispenser and see if it makes the ice maker fill up. See if when the ice maker cycles water comes out the door. If the ice maker causes water in the door , replace the valve, If door switch causes ice maker to fill up replace ice maker again.
