Lowrance 3500 Digital Depth Guage flashed 0.5 continuously

Our in dash Lowrance 3500 Digital Depth Guage flashed 0.5 continuously.
Occasionally it will actually work. Butmost of the time just flashes the 0.5. I have cleaned the bottom of the boat where the puck shoots thru the hull. No change. Any help in fixing this is appreciated.

If you have a glue in style transducer, be sure that the fluid has not leaked out of the cup. Otherwise, there really is no effective way to troubleshoot those without having known good parts to swap and try. If the cup is empty, it will need to be resealed with silicone (100% silicone) and then refilled with mineral oil.

What's wrong? My Lowrance Mark 5x dsi depth finder flashes or pulsates a depth of 60 ft. All the time.

Since the unit powers up, we can pretty much eliminate a power supply problem.

I would start by carefully inspecting your transducer lead for kinks, crushing etc. Assuming the cable is OK, clean and lubricate (silicone spray, safe for plastics) the cable end and where the cable connects to the unit.

Hope this is helpful to you.

When turning on the Lowrance the depth indicator will only register 0.0 and continues flashing the number. The Lowrance is a LCX-17M. We tryed the Lowrance on another boat with a working transducer...

here is the link to your the lowrance web site. the trouble shooting guide says that if you tried to it on another boat than you might need to take it in for service. but there is a section that explains how to do a soft reset on the unit. you might try that.

The GPS component of my Lowrance Elite-5 Gold is malfunctioning about 50% of the time.

Hey Les, Since you have replace both the unit and transducer, you have eliminated/diagnosed most of your problem.. Its in the wiring... sometime when I am in full GPS mode I get erroneous depth readings..?? Have you tried a different GPS module (the "puck")?

My fishfinder will not continue to read shallow depths as well as in shallow depths when drifting and occasionally running across the water. My unit is a lowrance 522c color gps/fishfinder.

Hello. Your observation is spot on and it is actually a characteristic that is always true when using sonar. Yes, your Lowrance uses the same sonar as a nuclear powered submarine does. The two factors you focus on, water depth and boat speed are perhaps, the two biggest factors when it comes to the quality of the fishfinder. The boat's engine should be in gear at an idle or just above. Experiment with your boat to find the best throttle location for good arches. Usually, a slow trolling speed works best. The depth of the fish can determine if the fish will arch on the screen. If the fish is in shallow water, the fish is not in the cone angle very long, making it difficult to show an arch. Typically, the deeper the fish, the easier it is to show an arch.

Built in transducer is not picking up/transferring depth to graph

I havew a Minn Kota trolling motor on a Z21 Ranger. Minn Kota has a built in (puck type) transducer on the motor. I have a lowrance 135x on the front. The lowrance will read the temp but will blink the depth. I switched out the depth finder with another 135x with the same results. I have a 522c gps unit networked together and mounted on the console that works fine. Any suggestions on the problem with the 135x?

X510c most of the time it reads 1.6 for the depth, it flashes 1.6 then it will go to the correct depth for a shqrt time then get stuck on 1.6 again some times other depths but mostly 1.6

Does this occur at any depths...over 20ft even.

The X510c will have problems keeping depth in shallow water...especially if it is muddy, weedy down there.

If the problem occurs even in depth over 20ft, then try resetting the unit:

1. Turn unit off
2. Press and hold ZIN, ZOUT, and PWR until you see the depth (flashing or not) in the top left corner.

If the problem still occurs, make sure the transducer is clean and still mounted so that it is sending the signal straight down to the bottom.

If the problem still occurs, make sure the power is good. You can have the voltage displayed on the screen through the overlay data menu.

Does the problem occur at any speed? If the problem clears up when you stop or slow down, the problem is due to cavitation and the transducer will need to be moved to a location where it is in a smooth flow of water at all speeds.

If none of this helps, there may be a malfunction with the X510c. You can try to update it but you will need to get the software update from someone at Lowrance support and then find a way to connect your X510c to a Lowrance unit that has a memory card slot via a NMEA 2000 network. I can help you with this if you need.

Other than that you can have the X510c returned to the factory for service.
