The original FOTOLOOK-program DOES NOT work on Mac OS 10.4 ...!
Advice: buy VUESCAN (professional-version - USD 79), works great & life-update for program...!
This doesn't do "one button" scans, but I just downloaded "VueScan" for my 10.5.4 Intel Mac and the demo is working great with my Canoscan N1220U. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/7610
I have had the same problem. That error represent a document still in the scan path. You will probably find there is no paper in the scanner. I tried this and it works every time. On the top of the scanner there is an access door. You will find this just above the discharge rollers. Open that door and either blow air in the compartment or blow hard using your mouth to clear dust. Close the door. That should resolve the problem. It is my guess that dust collects on sensors and the scanner is tricked into thinking there is paper in the path.
The only thing I can think of is to turn you to be scanned image up side down in the scanner bed.. IE Rotate 180' As another work arround simply open up Paint etc,and rotate the image 180' and save, ya should be all good.
