SOURCE: I have a craftman 42 in dual blade riding mower.
Either the deck is uneven or one of the blades are upside down
SOURCE: Stalls when engage blades in forward, but cuts fine in reverse
Did you try to disengage the safety feature that should shut the tractor off when the blades are engaged and the tractor is placed in reverse? I believe that it is located under the shift leaver

The blade can be bent or the deck is not level. Adjust the deck and level it from side to side. Now level it from front to rear with the front of the deck 1/4" lower than the back. If after leveling it, you find it still cuts uneven remove all blades and inspect them. You will more than likely find one is bent. Replace a bent blade.

Its not the tires it is the blades don't line up.One blade is three-quarters of an inch lower. Is there a shim for the star fitting.
