Intenal speaker doesn't turn off when headphones are plugged in

I have an Emerson EMP588-4 mp3 player with a built-in speaker. The speaker is on when headphones are in use. Is there any way to turn off the built-in speaker and listen to music through only the headphones?

I have had this same problem for a week! I realized that the last time I plugged my iPod into a PC, it was without the headphones plugged in. So, I put my headphones in, plugged the iPod into my PC, let it register for 30 seconds, safely removed hardware, and unplugged! The internal speaker has turned off, and the volume on the headphones is working fine. It is an annoying problem, and there's no other way to "fix" it!

I have an MP3-CD EXP2546 portable player. Can I hear it without headphones? How?

Well this MP3 player does not have a built in speaker so you have to use a headphone or external speaker to get the audio.

Please revert for any further issues.

HOW CAN I TURN OFF THE SPEAKERS N MY IPOD NANO I HOPE U GUYS CAN HELP ME...

I had the same issue as reported above: I could not turn off the built in speaker even when the headphones were plugged in. What I did to correct his was to unplug the headphones from the unit, and then cycle power by holding down the menu and center buttons at the same time until the power shuts off. Once it loaded back up I plugged in the headphones and it worked properly. Hope this helps.

Ipod touch music wont play, built in speaker works fine

Restart your ipod by holding the home and power button at the same time, this will restart it and should fix it.

I don't know how t put tv shows onto my zen mosaic, also how do i activate my built-in speakers i can't find it anywhere.

Activating the speakers is easy - while something is playing either yank out the headphones and it will turn on, or use the menu button and select turn on speaker.

PLEASE HELP

Posting solution to mark this as solved (even though poster already found solution):

Go into Settings menu, select Audio, and speaker output settings. The best is Auto, which will use the built in speaker only if headphones are not plugged in.

Speaker and headphones

Go to the settings menu and change the audio output to headphone only.
