I have lost my user manuel and I need to reset my Base GE5.8GHz I have a GE 5.8 GHz cordless phone system

The handset displaying the message may have lost its memory of the base station. Take it over to the base station and reset it as when you first associated the handset with the base.

Another tip is to remove the battery from the handset for at least 5 seconds. You might want to get a voltage meter and check the voltage on that new battery - maybe it isn't charging properly.

There is a Do Not Disturb button on the base unit. Press it to turn the feature on and off.

Check batteries are charged preferably for a few hours then perform the reset as per the manual: To re-initialize the handset and base: 1 Disconnect the power to the base. 2 Remove the handset battery pack. 3 Wait at least 15 seconds. 4 Insert the handset battery pack. 5 Connect the power to the base. 6 Put the handset in the base to re-initialize. 7 Wait for handset to display READY (or handset name). http://telephones.att.com/docMgt/public/art/306/2255_.pdf
