I knew someone who had a locking mailbox like that with keys when pass is forgotten or battery runs down, they could open with key. He registered it as directions said to do so you could order new keys, the old mailbox was also lockable and since owner died he had to throw it away as couldn't prove he wasn't thief. Maybe something there helps.
SAFE means that wrong codes have been entered previously. To reset it , the radio will have to be left SWITCHED ON ....UNDISTURBED for as long as it takes to reset itsel automatically.
This can be up to 24 hours as the waiting time doubles after each wrong code....but usually it is only an hour or two
Try this..Turn your radio off, take the fuse out (for the radio) for one minute. Replace it and turn the switch on. Turn the radio on and enter the code. If this dosnt work you may have the wrong code. If you enter the wrong code 3 times it may lock and you will have to wait an hour before entering again.
The units anti-theft program was activated when the battery was disconnected. If you don't know the 4 digit code, try to contact the previous owner or most higher end car audio dealer/installers will offer a service to reset the anti-theft code program, for a fee.
