Trouble with speakers (Samsung 2.1) to 52" sony bravia lcd

Hi,

Grateful for advice on how to hook up a set of Samsung 2.1 speakers (they have component video, hdmi, optical, and regular RCA red and white stereo connections) to my Sony Bravia 52" lcd TV.

I also have a ps3, blueray player and HD cable box hooked up to 3 hdmi inputs. (1 hdmi left available).

The speakers are not connected to a receiver but rather have all the output/input jacks on the back of the subwoofer. There is also a dvd player connected.

I tried hooking them up using RCA, (TV out to speakers in) and setting the sound to external speakers on the TV and no luck. (speakers are on) Any ideas?
Do I need a receiver for this to work?

How do I get the sound to come through my T.V speakers?

You have to hook from the cable/dish box straight to the audio on the TV. That will get you audio out of the tv.

Sony Bravia KDL-46Z4100 46 in. LCD HDTV TV does

Probably its not a problem. On the menu You should have a Headphone audio level control (when needed you can mute the set speakers and still have headphone audio).

Hi I have a Sony Bravia KLV-40S200A which wont turn on. The standby button flashes five times then pauses for about 4 seconds then flashes again. Any ideas?

Diagnostic Test Indicators

When an error occurs, the POWER LED will flash a set number of times to indicate the possible cause of the problem. If there is more than one error, the LED will identify the first of the problem areas. If the errors occur simultaneously, the one that corresponds to the fewest flashes is identified first.

How do i hook external speakers to sony bravia television

The proper way to do this would be to use the audio output from the TV, either analogue left and right or the optical port, and send it into an dedicated amplifier or AV receiver. You can then use the amplifier or receiver to power the external speakers. If you are using a dedicated amplifier with no volume control you will want to change the audio output setting on the TV to "variable out" as oppose to its current "fixed out"settings. You can find this in the TV menu, usually under the audio settings. This will allow you to use the current TV remote to adjust the audio volume coming out of the external speakers.

Trouble hooking up sony components..Bravia, Home theatre, blu-ray

Got your post, I will work with the model #s. Get back with you soon. Also a tip for now: HDMI carries true digital video and audio so you may not need the optic cables.

SONY BRAVIA KDL40D3100

These new LCD televisions have a number of display modes, some which magnify and crop the video. You must have one of the magnification modes on, something called "wide zoom". As a result, some of the text is getting cropped because the whole picture is actually cropped (you just didn't notice). Use your remote and try changing the display mode. You should be able to get to "normal" and then basic wide (not wide zoom). Try it out. :-)
