SOURCE: dies when blades are engaged

Is this on the grass, grass may be too long stopping blades from moving.

Blades won t engage on my ariens ezr1740 riding lawnmower. Motor runs good. Belts r good. What should I check

Check your battery is well charged. Also check that fuse is not blown in electric clutch circiut. Clutches take a good power supply to engage. Check water level in battery. Maybe have to charge battery with external charger on power point.

Lawnmower wheels won't drive

If its a riding mower it probably the drive belts off track or slung off. The mower will still start up and turn blades with the drive belt off, but want engage to go forward or reverse if this is the problem.

When I engage the blades nothing happens. Any ideas?

I have a YTH 150 with a similar problem. The mower has an electrically powered clutch which is activated when you engage the blade button. If the drive belt has no tension on it, engaging the clutch doesn't do anything because the drive wheel will just spin but the blades won't. Look for broken tension springs on the mower deck and replace.

Serviced my riding lawnmower runs great. but when I put in drive it dies out. Also when I engage blades it dies out. No problems last summer. It won,t stay running when I do these two steps

Probably the seat safety switch. If it's not activated (from your weight on the seat) the engine is killed when you put it in gear, or engage the blades. Lift up the seat and check the switch - wires on tight? switch tightly mounted? You can take the switch out and tape it in the pushed-in position to test things. If that doesn't let the mower run, the switch itself is probably bad, but it could also be a connector that knocked loose when you serviced the mower. Check wires and connectors. Good luck!

I have rjdeing lawnmower with a BRIGGS&STRATTON 13.5 OHL WHEN YOU PUT IT IN GEAR AND ENGAGE THE BLADE IT LOSES POWER WQNT RUN. FAMLEY 4BSXS.3442VM 275943

if you mean that when you let off the clutch pedal and/or engage the blades, the engine dies, lift the seat and make sure the connector is firmly plugged into the switch attached to the seat.

I have an A680L John deere riding lawnmower. The transmission does not seem to engage. It burns the belts.

Burning belts sounds like something is locked up. Make sure there's nothing wrapped around any of the blades and that they turn freely.
