I am in the UK and have ordered a Singer 7422 from the US (much cheaper). I need to get a voltage converter but I'm not sure what the power output is for the machine. Does anyone know?
I realize this answer is 7 years "after the fact", but US machines are designed for 110-115 volts... NOT 220-230 volts.
You do not want to plug in a US machine to a 220-230 volt output line.

Computerized sewing machines, like the 7422, don't usually need oiling. They used sealed bearings. The manual for the 7422 does not show any oiling/lubrication points.
Hello Gargi Sarkar
The power supply voltage in India is between 220 V and 240 V. Your machine will be ruined if you plug it directly into the power supply in India. There are two options:
1. Use a step down adaptor to 'reduce' the 220 - 240 V to 110V which is what your machine can handle. This may be more practical and economical AND you can use the step-down adaptor for other Canadian electronics.
2. Your sewing machine motor can be changed for a 220 - 240 V motor, but often other parts will need to be changed as well. Also more costly.
Hi
I have managed to find two sites offering downloadable versions of the manual you want. However they both charge for the privilege. The first is the Singer site itself here: SINGER Instruction Manual pdf model 7422
and they do say that if you pay up then on checkout then they will send an email with a link for immediate download in pdf format.
The other site is here: Singer Instruction Manuals 6000 9999
and you can scroll down to your model. They state clearly that download orders are not immediate but subject to confirmation, but they do say expected within 1 hour.
My experience is mainly computers and I was surprised to find the manufacturer charging for a manual, but different industries, different standards I suppose. Ho-Hum.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers
For your Singer Advance, you can find one at www.mastersewusa.com I just looked at their website. You have to click on the instruction manual box, and then scroll way down to 7422. You can download one there or order a copy mailed to you. Take care and good luck, Andy
Call Singer before you plug it in again, you may wreck your machine if you have the wrong voltage. Go to singerco.com and get the phone number for your country,.Be careful and good luck
That's great. I'll get one with a 100w max output in that case just to be safe.
Thanks!
