Message that TV is powering down, check air flow for obstruction

A message flashed at the bottom of the screen saying TV was powering down and viewer should check to be sure air flow was not obstructed. This set was donated to our facility in July, with no manual or other instructions, so I haven't a clue as to what to do next.

Mitsubishi has had some problems with these sets with the lamp cartridge(google the model number and look for how to replace lamp instructions) On some of the lamp cartridges they covered several openings with a fine screen like material---one is narrow and completely blocks up with dust---this will trigger the air flow message--if you get the lamp out and this screen is blocked, carefully clean the dirt off with a brush---if you don't get it soon enough it will kill the lamp----the replacement lamps for these sets use a bigger mesh that does not block with dirt---it blocks because there is a fan the pulls air and dirt into the set to cool the lamp during operation.

In the 65" TVS there are 4 or more fans One of these is not functioning Probably the one over the power supply itself This will cause it to heat very quickly and shut down in a matter of about 20 seconds.

Getting a message

Have this checked with another scan tool. Link error is produced when the PCM fails to respond to the scan tool. More times than not this is the PCM failing.

Tv cuts off by it self. flashes message on bottom of screen check fan no. 2.

You haven't said which Samsung projector you have so I have to give you a generalised answer: The projector is overheating and going into protective mode.

Do as the message says: check the cooling fans as you won't know which one is fan no.2. Mostly it's simply the air filters which have clogged with dust and they're always easy to remove and clean. If you wash the filters they must be bone dry before you reinstall them.

52' DLP Mitsubishi HD T.V. gets an error message on the bottom of the screen ''T.V. will shut down. Check that air flow is not blocked'' T.V. is in the open and air flow is not blocked. There is also a...

most rear projectors will turn themselves off whenever the lamp is dead. what we call protective mode. in this case the yellow light may be for the lamp. otherwise check if all the fan are working properly.
But MAKE SURE you let sufficient time for the tv to cool off before unplugging the main.

hope this helps

I have a Mitsubishi DLP 1080p TV with air flow problems

Hello ags98,

First I would suggest that you re-seat the bulb and then check the cooling fan, and air flow path. In addition to checking the fan make sure all air flow ingress and egress vent are unobstructed.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

PLASMA DISPLAY STARTING UP. PLEASE WAIT

Un plug the power to the Plasma Screen and also to the Media Receiver for ten minutes. Disconnect the off the air antennas both A and B. After ten minutes plug in the plasma screen then the media receiver and turn on wi the remote control. You should now be back in operation. I was.
Also It may not be a bad digital tuner. The TV Guide feature is active even when the zip code is set to all 0s so if you have an over the air antenna attached the TV will look for the TV Guide info and if it can not find it because of a weak signal or the chanel it is tuned to does not carry that information the TV thinks that tuner does not work which triggers the 12 flashes. Also on power up the gray box with the waring message "Plasma Display Starting Up, Please Wait" appears and the screen is blank.
