Our tv just went black while we were watching it earlier. I have tried unplugging/ holding down the power button...
This tv is only 12 months old.
I learned recently that, since I purchased mine with a VISA card, VISA automatically doubled my warranty to extend it to a second year. Hope this helps someone else.
My HP PL4260N lost the video portion today . I've had it for only 15 months. It is past the waaranty and HP needs $629.00 to fix it. They know about the problem and yet they do not disclose it at purchase times. It is hard to believe a big name company like HP does that. My next TY, computer, printer or fax IS NOT GOING TO BE HP.
Hp has a free repair program for this problem.

My HP PL4260N also lost the video display at 14 months. After reading some reviews, it appears there are more than a few upset consumers. This model is known for having this problem. It is a result of a bad circuit board. I called HP service, and they would not even talk to me about it since my unit is out-of-warranty. They directed me to call the out-of-warranty service department, which will automatically charge the consumer $50 for the call. I have yet to call (for this problem). Unfortunately, I have also been unable to locate the part for it, and have been informed no one in my area (Hawaii) repairs this model.

I have the same issue. You can hear the Plasma cycle up after turning it on, but I can not seem to ignight the screen. It powers down just before the HP splash screen comes on. I have taken steps to do common resets like, UNPLUG ALL OTHER DEVICES, HOLD POWER BUTTON IN FOR 5-10 SECS, UNPLUG, REPLUG (RESET) to no avail.
It is interesting because HP will not sell me a new power supply or capacitor. Gateway Computers use to treat their consumers the same way before they lost considerable market share. Anyone have any ideas?
Our tv just went black while we were watching it. I have tried unplugging/ holding down the power button to see if that fix the problem. I called HP but since my Tv is not under warranty any more they refer me to call Best Buy and ask for tech support there. My Tv is only 15 months old.
I have the same problem.
black screen but I can hear sound
same problem, dont know what to do, if anyoneknows how to fix the problem, pls help, cannot afford to have it sent for repair. would think they would last more than 1.5 yrs.
To Anyone who reads this... Stay away from this TV. Countless reviews say this TV breaks after 12 - 18 months... Mine broke at 12 Months. No Fix. No Help from HP. WOSRT INVESTMENT EVER.
I've Done everything everyone else here has tried and the TV is still non-functionin... Oh an now, I don't even get sound.
black screen but could still hear sound, seriel number is two numbers out ot the range for the extended warrenty from HP. Spoke with HP rep and they gave me the run around and said the problem was fixed by that serial number, but obviously it was not fixed. Very upset with HP and know that they know that there is a problem with this model, even one of their technical people said as much, but they will not fix the TV.
I have the same one and it just happened to me as well. Since I have an extended warranty, I am hoping I can get mine swapped out for a newer model.
Indeed HP is not friendly in assisting its customers who have spent too much money for a lemon of a tv. Because my serial number is just outside the range they've identified they will not fix it. How lame is that??? They clearly know the problem is more widespread than they admit and they won't do anything about it. I will NEVER buy another HP product again and I am going to tell anyone who will listen not to buy HP!
SAme story here. 18 months ago I purchased this. It falls just outside their range, an wont fix it.
They want $629 to send a tech to fix it. I am outraged, I have been a long time HP customer, but now thats going to change.
I am using all of these to show HP that they need to increase that warranty serial number. This is insane, what a terrible investment!
This is the second time that my tv goes down, I still can hear the sound but no display on the screen, I though i was screwed after reading all the reviews, my warranty has expired but still contacted HP for help, I was satisfied but not really, now that HP knows about the problem will still repair your tv for free even if your warranty has expired.
If anyone is thinking to buy that TV PLEASE DO NOT it's a bad investment, and if you have the same problem, the good news is that HP will fix your TV
SAME HERE!!! my tv was few numbers out of range and they want $630 to fix it...Is there any regulation on this kind of Scam??? this people is screwing people up left and right!!!!!!!!
Black screen, sound works fine... me too! Mine has not been turned on for more than a total of 100 hrs. RC Willey is balking at helping and the local TV repair dude says he can't get parts or even a "how to" fix it manual from HP.... we all should unite and drop them off on the front dor of HP's president.
