Water will not drain out...checked drain pipe and nothing seems to be blocking water from draining. Is there a drain access other than the main drain hole? blinking red light [drain function] washing machine na-f42s3t [top load]
Hi Jim The pump inside the cabinet may have a small garment, such as childs sock or similar item, inside of it. Im not sure what model you have to give you instruction on cabinet removal, pump access etc. the more we know, the more help we can give you :) Get back to us. Filter may be blocked. Be careful taking it out, you will get flooded. Make sure you have something to collect the water as it rushes out. Also check the main drain isn't blocked. If you know how, unplug the rubber waste pipe at the back of machine (not from the bottom of machine but from where it connects to main drain) and see if the machine empties by running spin cycle. If water comes out of pipe then it's the main drain....if not it's either the pump or filter.
Check the pump filter which could be blocked or something like a nail has jammed the pump impeller. this may cause a mess as the water needs to be drained to access the removable cover to gain access to the filter/impeller.
Also check the drain pipe is not blocked. this can also be used to drain the machine into a bucket manually.
Drainage problems can be caused by:
a) Blocked Filter chamber
b) Blocked Sump
c) Blocked Drain Pipe
d) Failed Pump
You can check the sump and drain pipe are not blocked by disconnecting the drain pipe from the undersink trap or waste pipe and lowering to a bowl on the floor. The water should drain out into this bowl under gravity if there are no blockages. If this drains then you can should check the filter chamber if it is accessible on your washing machine (not all are). I would recommend you unplug the machine or take the fuse out of the switched socket before doing this. Drain the drum as above before doing this or you will get a gush of water coming out. You will usually have to remove a cover from the bottom of your machine to get to the filter chamber and twist it ant-clockwise to unscrew it. Check for any coins buttons etc trapped in there. If there is nothing there check the impeller will turn relatively easily by hand. If you still can't find the problem you might have a faield pump and I would recommend contacting an engineer.

Bear in mind if you have disconnected the drain pipe from an undersink pipe if youpour the drained water down the sink it will flood into your undersink cupboard. If this drains then you check the waste pipe or undersink trap is clear. You should also check the filter chamber if it is accessible on your washingmachine (not all are). Your pump is probably blocked. Do you have an outside area you can get the machine to? If so, drain it by taking the pipe off as described below: You will have to tilt the machine to access the bottom
of it. The pump will have an incoming water pipe from the drum, and an
outgoing pipe to the drain. These pipes are usually fixed with spring
clips which you press to release (may need a plier here). Remove the
pipe that comes to the pump from the drum.Check for items blocking the
pump via the opening for the pipe. You will probably find a sock or some
other item blocking the pipe. Remove and re-fit the pipe and spring
clip. It should work now.
Switch off the machine, unplug or disconnect the mains power to the machine and turn off the water supply to the machine.
Remove the access panel on the lower right front of the machine.
3.Remove the filter and make sure that the filter is not blocked and is clean and clear of all debris. Clean as required. Note that depending on the machine type you may get a lot of water coming out of the filter when you remove it if the machine has not drained successfully. Note that if the machine has stopped and not fully drained then you may be able to drain out the excess water by removing or disconnecting the waste hose and laying it on the ground in a tray. It may take a few minutes to empty but it will save a small flood. 4.Proceed by checking the drain hose for proper connection and kinks and make sure that it is not blocked. 5.Also check that the main waste drain pipe, if you use one, is not blocked and clean if required. 6.Reconnect the power and switch the machine on. If the problem persists then do the following. 7.Switch off the machine and disconnect the mains power. 8.Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure it is operational. 9.Remove the connecting hoses, and expect water to drain out and make sure the pipes are not blocked with debris or any object blockage. 10.Makes sure the pump appears clear and that the impeller looks in good condition. 11.Reconnect the hoses and then reconnect power and switch the machine on. 12.If problem has not been corrected, then remove the pump and check that the drive coupling to the motor is OK and that the motor turns OK. If all is well then replace the pump.
Pump is item #23 and filter is #24. The main pump is accessible from the rear or under the machine.
1.Switch off the machine, unplug or disconnect the mains AC power to the machine and turn off the water supply to the machine. 2.Remove the filter access panel. 3.Remove the filter and make sure that the filter is not blocked and is clean and clear of all debris. The error indicates that the machine has taken too long to drain the water. Do the following.
Switch off the machine and disconnect the mains power.
Remove the access panel on the lower right front of the machine.
Remove the filter and make sure that the filter is not blocked and is clean and clear of all debris. Clean as required.
