Save yourself some time and effort, if there are files on the drive take out the drive and copy them using an ide to usb adapter on a more modern pc.
It is not worth the time and effort as W95 is no longer supported and it won't run any useful software (in my opinion).

you must the case to locate the battery..un screw all and then find a small silver circle inside the motherboard

If you can get the cover off your notebook safetly,take out the cmos battery and put it back in,then power up your notebook...that may work:)

sounds like someone entered a password to lock the laptop try hitting enter or ask the old owner

I'm copying someone else's answer; I can't vouch for it.
emove the main battery and mains power supply, hit the power switch to drain any retained charge. then remove the cmos battery and short out the contacts. the cmos battery is on the right under the panel at the top of the keyboard, which can be popped out by gently levering it up at the edges. the key board can then be folded clear, watch for the ribbon cable under it that connects to the motherboard.

power supply and or needs battery in it too work in conjunction with each other on toshiba

the connector cord for compaq now it could have left outside comp for external cd or hdd but im going to say its the power connector or too hdd

are you talking about bios password or os(windows)password.
it sounds to me like bios password cos if windows not set you just enter.
in which case you can try enter setup(bios)at start and select default values then save and exit;if it allows you .if it doesnt get back to me and can send you software to fix this via email.

You need to download and install the proper drivers from Compaq (now HP). Go to http://www.compaq.com and do the following:

Click "Get Support" at the top.

Enter "armada m700" in the "Enter a product number" box.

Click the little submit button that looks like ">>".

Click "Download drivers and software".

Click one of the "Windows XP" links. Doesn't matter which one.

Scroll down and click the "Download" buttons that correspond to each driver you want to download.

Install the drivers you downloaded.
