I continue to receive "paper too narrow. load with wider paper" message despite using 8 1/2 x 11" paper. This was not an issue I've ever had before and am using the same size (standard) paper as I always have. What may be the issue with this?

Check the Paper Size Settings.

The only document I found at HP.com that may seem to address your issue is the following:

A 'Paper Mismatch' or 'Paper too Narrow' Error Occurs While Receiving a Fax

Go to Control Panel, select: Printers (select yours), Printer, Properties, Device settings, Form to Tray assignment, Letter (size), apply, ok, and exit back to the desk top. Try to run a test page before the last part.

Paper too narrow only receive fax

possible that the margins you are using are incorrectly set

It is indicating that the paper is too narrow and that I should load wider paper and then press enter. When I do this I just keep getting the same message. I can't copy as it generates this same message.

There's a sensor on the underside of the carriage assembly on the right side of the carriage that points down at the paper. You clean this sensor with a damp Q-tip and the error goes away. You have to unplug the machine while the carriage is in the center to be able to reach the sensor.

Receiving massage paper is too narrow load wider paper on my hp 6110 all-in-one can you please help

Hello,
I think your paper tray may need to be adjusted to fit your paper size.
Check and see if there is any way to adjust it.

Thanks

Have error message saying paper is to narrow, load wider paper and press enter, A4 is loaded print options are set to upper tray A4, paper is loaded, cannot clear message

Hello.

That message is indicating that there is a problem with the cartridge alignment.

From HP:There are several reasons why the HP All-in-One may fail to align the cartridges. The most common reason is an ink cartridge that has one of the following problems:
  • One of the ink cartridges is low or out of ink. Black and all three colors must be available.
  • The paper has already been printed on or is colored paper.
  • Protective tape on a new ink cartridge has not been removed.
  • Contacts on the ink cartridge are not meeting the contacts in the carriage correctly.
  • Cartridge is remanufactured or refilled. Refilled or remanufactured ink cartridges may have been damaged during the refilling process or have clogged ink nozzles.
  • The ink cartridge is defective.
Also, use a fresh piece of paper that has never been printed on for the alignment process or the alignment will fail.

Hope this helps.

I am trying to receive a fax and am getting a paper to narrow mes

I not really sure on this machine if it has these setting, but most fax do. There is a setting that allows you to automatic choose reduction of a fax if the one sent was larger than 8 1/2 x 11. Good Luck

Paper

If you see this message on the front panel of the HP PSC 2210 when you are receiving a fax, check that the paper size is set to match the paper size in the paper tray. (You cannot receive a fax on 4 x 6 paper or on an envelope.) Checking the paper size setting
  1. Press Setup .
  2. Press the right arrow until you see 3: Basic Fax Setup .
  3. Press Enter .
  4. Press the right arrow until you see 4: Paper Size .
  5. Press Enter .
  6. Press the right arrow until you see the paper size that matches the size of the paper in the paper tray.
  7. Press Enter .

All in one printer

This seems to be a paper registration problem for the copy function only that is an HP thing Good old HP so innovative and so secretive none of us know whats going on most of the time. Two things to try. Take the stack of paper out of the feed tray and riffle so that it is slightly 'untidy' switch off the device , load the paper, switch on- see what happens. Next look at the software disk- there is usually a fully comprehensive reference manual on there [more than in the book]- check that out then come back.
