SOURCE: Transfering 8mm video tapes to dvds
Hi there. You need to transfer your videos to your computer and then burn them to DVD using a program like Record Now, or Nero. You should be able to get this from Best Buy, or you can get it online from their websites. If you have any other questions, let me know with a comment. Thanks for coming to FixYa.

SOURCE: Camera Shutting Down
Did this for the same problem on the PowerShot A570 IS and it worked wonderfully (thanks to other poster): For the PowerShot A 430: Take out the batteries, then hold down the power button for 30 seconds or more, then reinstall the batteries. Problem solved!
SOURCE: type of battery
Just a comment on the first answer: Use only silver oxide batteries (SR44). Using lithium batteries will not harm your camera but they have an unstable voltage, they start off a little over 1.5v and drift down to around 1.35v just before they no longer work. They are fine for non-precision equipment but not for your camera as they can cause the lightmeter to be as much as four stops out.
SR44's are at the correct 1.55v and remain at that level almost until the very end. They cost a bit more than lithium cells but are well worth the money, just make sure that the packaging actually says "silver oxide" as some manufacturers put the SR44 number on the packaging of LR44 lithium cells.

The first thing to do is to save all of your photo's onto your pc and then format the camera on board memory. This can become corrupt and stop the camera from functioning correctly. Next up is to reset the camera to factory settings via the menu system on the camera. Hope this helps
Hi,
This issue may occur for one of the following reasons:
The memory card was removed while in the process of recording or finalizing.
The camera was dropped or subjected to some type of impact during recording or formatting.
Performing a manual power reset may help:
?· Turn off the camera.
?· Remove the battery pack.
?· Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
?· Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.
?· Reinsert the battery pack.
?· Turn on the camera.
To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the Main Settings 1 Menu of the Camera to OK. This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.
Reset the camera to factory specifications to try resolving the issue.
If the issue is still unresolved, service will be required.
Thanks,
KenSolutions
