THERE IS A LITTLE KNOB ON THE KEYBOARD TO THE RIGHT OF THE LOCK AND UNLOCK ICON ON THE MONITOR. The monitor keeps going off and pressing this knob brings it on however it is not working properly. The monitor stays on for a fraction of a second and goes off. If I keep pressing the button it eventually stays on for a short time. I had this trouble when I first got the machine and then it settled down and I had no more problems so I didnt report it but now it is doing it all the time. I can sometimes see the monitor for a few minutes like now and other times it goes dark although you can still type and see what you have typed when it lights up again. You can just about make out whats on the monitor in the dark so the actual computer is still on. What should I do. Can I stop this knob from going off?

it must be that ur ctrl button has been stuck....so next time press and release the ctrl button several times and try to run the same i.e. press r key or e key and it won't start the run command or explorer window....

Check if there are any new drivers available for you computer's hardware devices and update them if so.
Running a memory test also does not harm, could be faulty RAM.

Same problem. Monitor goes dark after every few minutes. Sometimes it stays on for awhile. Especially bad when computer first turned on. I have to turn off monitor, then turn it back on. Occurred once during typing of this message.
