Regarding a IBM ThinkCentre 8183: I want to instal a new Hard Drive and install a new OS from the dvd drive. I cannot get the computer to install the new OS from the dvd drive, even though I select that option during the set up. This machine always says: 'error,cannot find OS... exiting BIOS boot agent ...pres F1 for more options'. when I select the option to boot from the dvd which has the OS disk in it, the machine retuns the same error... cannot find OS...Why wont this machine install from the dvd when I select that option?
How can I install a new HD, given this limitation.
PS I copied the old HD using Norton Ghost 14 onto the new HD but It doesn't find any OS there even thought I copied the Master boot record,
any solutions any body?

Bit late with answering.. But the basic dvd drive in this IBM machine can only read DVD's not DVD-R or -RW
How do i change the bios on a think centre 8086 so that it will boot from my cd drive.I get into bios ok but cannot see how to change the order of the start up.
Make sure the disc you are using is an install disc and not an upgrade disc. It sounds corny but I had the same problem when I wiped my hard drive and tried to reinstall.
Probably your disk is scratched or bad
