That is the master clamper area. Take off the rear cover. From the rear it is on the right. There is a motor and a rack gear that moves to open the drum master clamper when removing and loading a master. With the back cover removed, try to make a master while watching that assembly. You can also put the drum in and drive the motor by hand to watch and see if opens the drum clamper.
Hi, Lanier 5618 is not a Network Copier. However, it may be installed on one PC and shared from there. Drivers are available from LANIER Official Support
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya! CreativeTECH
Ours Lanier 5618 has a network adapter , finally succeeded to setup via it by : "add printer wizard" , after choosing 'Standard TCP/IP Port' ; we choose " Ricoh Generic Network Printer " instead of "Generic Network Card" at 'Dvice Type' .......
open right cover, and front cover. Remove toner bottle assembly (not just bottle), unplug drum (photoconductor) connector. Press the gray/silver release tab and slide out drum. Install and plug in new unit, replace toner assembly, close covers, and the new unit is automatically detected and calibration will begin.
