AC power jack came loose from the board on both the Yukai PVR-H240 and Mustek PVR-H140. Is this a common problem?

This happened to me too. Just unscrew the 4 screws, lift out the hard drive and glue it back down to where it was (2 little pegs will fit into two little holes on the circuit board. You can touch the contacts with a thin tipped soldering iron if you want to but you probably don't need to.Then close it up. That worked for me!

NEED DRIVERS FOR MUSTEK PVR-H140

HI,
the drivers for the unit are available at http://www.nodevice.com/driver/_PVR-H140/get33981.html

you can use the unit as an external drive, you will need to connect the it to your computer via usb then power it up, after 30 seconds or so it should show up on "My Computer" as an extra drive.

if it doesn't show then the internal battery could be flat, though it will charge via the usb if the power is off (red light on when charging) or use the supplied power adapter.

My mustek pvr-H140 freezing

Tje pvr-h140 basicall have 3 major components

1- 40 gb hard disk
2- battery pack similiar to the cordless phone battery packs
3- integrated panel with LCD and control buttons; usb port; power port; av in/out port.

when the unit hangs on initialize; this mean the hard disk is not responding. you can hit the recessed reset button and and power it back on. if the hard disk is OK this should clear up the issue.

if the hard disk is bad (crashed) then you need to replace the disk. Usually a fitjitsu 40GB notebook drive

also if the unit was dropped; constantly banged; etc then the cable to the hard disk to the integrated panel may be loose. The disk to cable is pinned and doesn't come loose but the other end of the cable is taped to the integrated panel and can come loose if the unit is not handled properly.

finally if the boot up files are corrupt; then you should be able to see it on the pc with the usb connection.

In this case you need to download and restore the files as discussed in the other solutions. Basically mustek has a website with all the drivers.
