SOURCE: Husqvarna Viking Designer I (feed dogs will not lower)

Its likely this machines feedogs have either never been lowered or not lowered for a long time. Thus the old oil has hardend and is causing the mechanism to freeze up. A tech would take the bottom cover off, follow the connections from the lowering knob, button or switch to the feeddogs and putting a bit of oil or penetrant on each moving connection. Don't force anything, gently tap where you beleive its sticking and turn, push or flip the switch, knob or button slowly bit by bit, back and forth until they drop. They will work loose then make sure they get a bit of oil again. Hope this helps. Good luck.

SOURCE: stitches

Usually a walking foot is for straight forward stitching only.It keeps the many layers from shifting for you. The "hand-look" quilting takes a couple stitches forward then one back. If you look close, you will see about every other stitch is thicker and stands out more.

SOURCE: Husqvarna bobbin thread jamming

Make sure the bobbin thread "clicks" into the tension slot. However, thread nests underneath are usually caused by the top thread, not the bobbin. Make sure your thread is seating itself in the top tension disks. To do this, put the spool on the machine, pull off about 12 or 15 inches of thread, then hold this thread down with one finger on your right hand as you take the thread tail through the threading path with your left hand. When you get to the needle, tug the thread (still holding it down up top) to be sure it seats in the tensions disks. You must also have the presser foot UP while you do this to ensure that the tension disks are open. Watch the first thread guide after the spool as you sew to make sure the thread is not jumping out of there (a common problem with Des1 machines, fixed with SEs - no comfort to you and me!). I have put a small piece of tape across there with the end turned back on itself so no sticky bit is going to catch on the thread.

In the mean time, verify that you are able to do card E1 stitch 24 and card E2 stitch 27. I think you can, but let me know.

SOURCE: Viking Designer 2 stitch card and embroidery problems

Interesting. It may be that the "chip" in the machine itself needs to be replaced. This is not a hard task but has to be done by an authorized service technician plus the part has to be ordered from Viking and only authorized dealers can order parts. You might clean the contact points with a pencil eraser but be sure to remove any particles left before inserting it into the machine. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I am making a quilt on Husqvarna Lily 530 and cannot get my upper/lower thread equal for outlining design in quilt..book doesnot help me....any suggestions for stitch setting

Tension for stitching a quilt sandwich is tricky. It helps if you use the same color for top and bobbin thread,. If your quilting thread is not the same weight (either heavier or lighter) than thread used for regular sewing, then the bobbin tension may need to be adjusted. My quilting thread is lighter weight so I have a separate bobbin case whos tension has been adjusted specifically for quilting. The goal is have both threads meet in the middle of the sandwich. If the top thread is showing under the sandwich, you probably need to tighten the top tension so it will pull the bobbin thread up into the sandwich. Do the reverse if the bobbin thread shows on top.

It may also make a difference by changing the type and size needle. I tend to prefer a top-stitch needle. An embroidery or microtex may also work for you.

Viking designer 1

Hi, Free motion quilting is done with your programmed quilting stitches, Lower the feed dogs using the small white dial on the front of the machine behind the accessory tray, pick from one of the quilting stitches. they do make a free motion quilting tool ( I think they call it a hoop), but it just sets on top the material and helps you guide your material thru the machine. Hope this helps

Does the husqvarna viking quilt designer 11 sew straight stitches without using a card?

It is possible but it will only sew a straight stitch (more than likely a 2.5MM stitch length which is a common/standard length for straight stitching.

Remove thread message in husqvarna viking sapphire 870 quilt

I had this same problem, on my Designer Diamond. I blew it out with an air can and that didn't work, but then I decided to turn it off, then back on and start sewing a line in reverse. That seemed to fix it. My machine is working fine now.
