Can't remove front panel on Amana washer

Amana ALW480DAW top loader less than 6 years old. Leaking from underneath. Exterior hose connections are all fine. Having difficulty removing top and bottom front panels to see if interior hose is leaking. Can anyone supply directions for removing these?

Access through the back panel about 10 screws. Its likely the drain pump or one of its hoses.

What does FA mean on the machine

Hello. You didn't state the model number of the washer so my help is limited. The FA error code on some washers indicates the flood sensor has been tripped. (Check for a water leak asap) There is a sensor, usually located at the bottom, rear, that trips if water comes into contact with it.(shorts across the terminals) and causes an immediate shut-down of the washer. I'm assuming this is a front-loading unit. Depending on the model, you will have to either remove the service panel from the middle of the rear panel or, remove the entire metal rear cover of the washer--about 20 screws more or less, the top 3 and middle 2 will be machine thread and not sheet metal screws(have a much coarser thread).
Check for water residue trails( to help you locate the source of the leak. Don't rule out a leak coming from one or more of the inlet water valves located at the top, rear of the washer underneath the top cover. Shut off the water at the wall first, and then do what *I* do--start from the top and work my way down. If the valves *are* leaking, there usually will be rust and moisture around the magnet coils of the suspect valve(s). (i.e. LG washers are notorious for leaking inlet water valves and I keep several sets on the svc van). Also, carefully check out the electric drain pump for a cracked casing or loose hose clamps--I hate those spring clamps--replace them with automobile hose clamps if you can(the kind that you use a screwdriver to tighten). If the valves aren't leaking, CAREFULLY check any and all hoses coming from the dispenser holder on a front-loader and the lines leading to the different dispensers on a top loader. I hope I helped you!

Kenmore, model 110 26422500, type 111 Leaks when spin

The back panel does NOT come off on this model washer. In order to accurately determine the source of a leak on a Whirlpool manufactured TOP LOADER, you need to remove the exterior washer cabinet. This is procedure is much simpler than it sounds. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576648-washer_leak__top_loader

In the majority of cases, leaks on top loaders are caused by a leaking drain pump, or drain hoses. Instructions are included to replace the pump if it found to be leaking.

Replacement parts (if required) can be found at the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The average cost varies, so shop and compare. The first three websites I listed also have helpful exploded view parts diagrams that can help you locate and properly identify the parts you need.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

I also have a front loader that is less than 4 years old and is leaking. Checked filter - nothing blocking.

things that cause leaks / does it leak when you arn't using it . ( ck the fill hoses ) run a cycle with the front panel off and look with light for leakage . the hoses underneath /the front rubber boot / pump hoses ( connections ) and note where water first show. . and get back with me. you have to be a good detective with some cases.. mm

Amana ALW480DAW washer

Remove the front panel by loosening the two screws that hold it in place. Unhook the spring that puts tension on the tension pulley. Remove old/worn belt and replace with new belt. Very important that you use the correct size belt or the motor may be damaged and remember to hook the spring back for the tension pulley. The new belt has to go around the inside of the tension pulley.
