Windows installation I am fixing my friends TG laptop and it has vista but he wants xp so i want to know if there is any way that it keeps all the files and documents and programs but will still install xp.

You can install xp on a vista laptop, you will need an xp install cd and you will need to backup your data (it will be erased in the downgrade process). As for the drivers, go to your laptops manufactures site. They will have a support section for your laptop model where you can see if there are drivers for xp. If you have the hardware that will support windows 7, I would go with that. Xp is slow and no longer supported by Microsoft as of April 2014, which poses a security risk. Windows 7 will be supported for a while and is faster and more stable than xp or vista.

Well, win xp is absolutly more fun as OS then win 2000:)
To upgrade to win xp will be no problem since Toshiba have drivers for ir. To upgrade to VISTA will...or can give you problem since there arent any drivers for that Tecra S1.

I THINK IF U GOT THESE OS ALREADY INSTALLED HAVE U GOT ENOUGH SPACE TO CARRY ON WITH THE INSTALATION ,TRY FORMATTING UR DRIVES AND TRY SEVICE PACK 2 IF AVAILABLE ,WHY DOES HE WANT ANY OTHER IF U GOT 7 ITS THE BEST OUT SO FAR

You need to install the audio driver again.
You can download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers: -

do you have both original OS?
if your laptop had XP on factory defaults you migth whanna look for recovery disks. if a friend full formated your harddrive when installing vista, then get a copy of windows XP and put the key of your laptop.

so it do exists. i didnt understand its not accepting win xp and vista! any way try to get a Windows Vista CD and install it. it should go fine. if not let me know we can fix it togather.
