I have an LG model LHD65EBL dehumidifier. The humidistat will not change from 70 when I push either + or -. The fan runs well and the compressor sounds like it is running well Some water comes out when the...

Prt of the problem may be a dirty or clogged air intake filter.

Turn the unit OFF and unplug, it before removing the filter to check and clean it.
You can ether vacuum it or if it's really dirty & clogged, wash it in warm water and mild dish washing liquid. Rinse thoroughly, shake off access water and allow it to dry completely, before reinstalling it.
Never operate the unit without the filter in place. As this could damage the unit.

Plug the unit back in and turn it ON. Try lowering the humidity extraction level now, using the arrow down button. For a very damp, humid basement application 35% is a good setting to start with for several days.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Deumidifier is running but the bucket won't collect any water. I've set the desired humidity level to 35% (ambient humdity is 75%) as well as cleaned the filter

There are 5 basic, yet solvable reason for what you described. The first 2, you have already covered. If our unit is operating in a basement, pay close attention to # 5.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

I hope this was of help to you. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hello,

First, make sure the humidistat isn't set too high by adjusting it to the lowest humidity setting and running it again. Next, test the dehumidifier by placing it in a closed bathroom with a hot shower running.

If you don't see water collecting in the unit after several minutes, turn the unit off and clean all dehumidifier filters and coils. If, after adjusting the settings and cleaning the unit, you still don't see water collecting, you may have a refrigeration issue. This situation will have to be addressed by a qualified technician.

Take care.

Doesn't collect water, freezes on top

clean filter and then check the coil behind the filter to see if clean. Biggest things that freeze a unit are dirty filter or coil...or low on freon.

Dehumidifier does not collect water.

If your dehumidifier doesn't seem to run often but the humidity in the room is high, try adjusting the humidistat control on the dehumidifier to a dryer setting. If the dehumidifier seems to run constantly, but there's little or no water in the container, there may be a problem in the refrigeration system. Try cleaning the unit. If that doesn't work, you can't repair the refrigeration system yourself, you need a qualified appliance repair technician to do that.

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. - If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.

LG LD65EL Dehumidifier doesn't work properly

What do you have the humidity level set at on your dehumidifier? The average is 65%. Make sure you do not have it set at 75% because if you do this could be causing it to keep the humidity so high.
