If plugs and wire are good, it's probably either the ignition coils or power pack and/or optical sensor.

Firing order 1 2 3 is common on most three cylinder outboards. 1 3 2 is the only other combination.

i have service manual for MERCURY IN LINE 75-150 HP-it covers all however my scanner printer down at present so unable to scan to lappy to be able to email at prez-hopefully this week-waiting on my computer man!

The correct gap is .035

breaker/maker. set @ 020" @ the highest point but what is you're real problem. Run only champion spark plugs. We spenta dAY @ omc'S SERVICE CENTRE BEING SHOWN WHY. tHEY KNOW BEST!!

Clean or change the Spark Cables>
to cleab the pull them out and with antirust spray and clean

Check the coils. An older motor could have corrosion in the coils and preventing operation.

I'm pretty sure that Chrysler never built, or imported, a car with a 3-cylinder engine in the 1970s. If some cylinders have spark, but others don't, I'd start with a new distributor cap and rotor, followed by a new set of spark plug wires. All of those are pretty cheap, especially online -- try rockauto.com.

If there is no spark on all wires it is probably a power pack. The odds of all four coils going out is very low

Not ignition points as a set of breaker points as we know it.The timing is set from magnets set under the flywheel.Hope this helps
