It is possible. The lever is locted at the rear of the free arm. It is a bit like a switch. The diagram on page five of the manual shows it being operate with the left hand. Push to right to drop feed and push to left to raise feed again. https://www.janome.com/siteassets/support/manuals/economy-models/inst-book-7318-english.pdf
You have to remove the extension table to reach the lever on the back of the free arm. If no switch there you need to visit a sewing machine store or call Janome

I need instuctions on using different presser foot for ja nome schoolmate

Please add a comment with the specific model of Janome Schoolmate sewing machine.

Fpr the Janome Schoolmate S-3015, make sure that the needle is fully up and raise the presser foot. Then press the red button on the back of the presser foot holder to have that foot drop off. Set the pressure dial to 3 before attaching the new presser foot. For snap-on feet, align the pin of the presser foot (the horizontal bar in the middle of the foot) under the presser foot holder. Lower the presser foot holder (using the presser foot height lever) until it locks onto the foot.

For the zipper foot, you need to fit the rear pin on the foot into groove at the back of the presser foot holder. Then lower the presser foot holder onto the zipper foot.

These are shown on page 11 (14 of the PDF) of the manual. You can download the manual here: http://janome.com/en/machines/sewing/schoolmate-s-3015/ . The direct link to the manual is http://janome.com/siteassets/support/manuals/school-models/schoolmate3015.pdf .

For the S-7330, you need to again raise the needle and the presser foot. Press the lever towards (it moves slightly up, not down) the presser foot holder. Then line up the pin on the foot under the presser foot holder and lower the presser foot holder onto the foot so that it locks. This is also in that sewing machine's manual, here: http://janome.com/siteassets/support/manuals/school-models/inst-book-s-7330esf.pdf . See page 14 (18 of the PDF).

I hope this helps.

How do I get the sewing needle to move forward on my Janome sewing machine?

Check to see if the feed dogs are lowered. There should be a lever or switch on the front or back of the sewing arm that drops the feed dogs for free motion sewing.

Also check under the needle plate for lint build up. This can prevent the feed dogs from raising.

Good luck!

My fabric wasn't moving so I lowered the feed dogs and now I cannot raise them. The button in the back of the machine moves both ways but the feed dogs are not moving. They are staying in the down...

Hello

Turn off the power. Remove the accessory compartment located in front of the machine, if applicable.

Open the hook cover that shields the bobbin area. Please note that you do not need to remove the bobbin case.

Locate the drop feed lever near the bobbin case. Some machines have the lever towards the back of the free arm. Press down on the lever and then move it to the next notch or position. The raised metal feed dogs should be visible through the openings on the needle plate. You may need to rotate the big balance wheel one rotation to engage the mechanism on some machine models. The metal teeth will then spring up.

Close the hook cover. Insert the accessory compartment, if applicable.

Turn on the power. Try test stitching a piece of fabric. The raised feed dogs should help guide the fabric under the presser foot.

I've forgotten how to drop the feed dogs-can you help

There is a little lever on the back of the free arm at the bottom. Push the lever to the right and that will lower the feed dog.

Hi. Is there a free motion foot available for this model and can you lower the feed dogs?

Theanswer is yes and yes, you can purchase a free motion foot and there is a sliding button/lever on the back of the free arm just behind the needle plate that will lower the feed dogs, After the feed has been dropped and you want to re-engage them just flip the lever in the opposite direction and turn the machine one revolution and the feed will come back up,

My Janome one step is jamming on the first stich under the foot. I think it is the bobbin holder that has moved as it now comes out easily but do not know how to put it back in so it is secure

Raise the needle to it's highest position and this will position the shuttle so it is the correct position for the bobbin case to be inserted.

If this is a drop-in bobbin, the line-up is easy to see. Refer to the maintenance section of your manual.

If this is a rotary bobbin, make sure to hold the lever on the back of the bobbin case out as you insert it into the shuttle. The "arm" on the bobbin case points up.

Is there a way to drop feed dogs on My Excel 4023? I thought there was but I seem to have forgotten how to do this. Please help!

The drop feed lever is located underneath the free arm bed at the back. To raise the feed dogs, push the lever to the right. To drop them push it to the left. Hope this helps!

Quilting on Janome MC 4000

I have a MC4000 and a manual. To raise or drop the feed dog, remove the accessory box and feel at the back of the free arm there is a lever that will slide left or right to raise or lower the feed dog. I am not a quilter, but the manual says to use foot A (zigzag foot) and accessory L (quilter) which appears to be a guide. Cheers, Deb, Townsville, Australia
