Olympus 720 sw LCD Screen blank & white

My screen on my olympus 720 sw turns all white when i turn it on. Im still able to take pictures but the LCD screen just shows all white/light gray. Help! I love my camera and this is right before christmas. :(

Same problem. The screen's completely white, it still takes photos but can't frame well since I have less idea of what I'm photographing. That means I also can't use the other functions as I can't see the menu!

Go to ebay.com, search for 'olympus u720 screen'.
you will see several screens, message the seller to verify that it will work.
you need jewelers screw drivers to open the case. there are four screws on the back, one on the bottom, and one inside the battery door going up into the back. there are two screws that hold the screen to the back.
the larger ribbon into the motherboard is the video, remove the tape, and flip up the little door holding it down. be careful and look at it, and be careful not to break it (i did).
the smaller ribbon is the power, its 'lock' slides out, then the ribbon will pull out.
these screens are are less that $20 with shipping. the model is written on the back of the screen LS025A3DB03S was mine. on the front it should say sharp (make sure the one you purchase is sharp brand).
GOOD LUCK!

p.s. after separating the case halves, make certain that the rubber gasket is still in its channel. (you want to maintain its weather-proof capability).

also examine the case halves for a metal piece(s) that slide into a a slot in the other half.

    EXAMINE EVERYTHING.

I had this problem with my Olympus SW 720, I sent it in to the east coast repair and they fixed it very quickly at no charge. It had been around a year after I bought it. You might want to try and send it in. If they are going to charge you they will give you a estimate before they go ahead and repair it.

Just in Time for Christmas then!
So decisions - live with out the screen- it appears to be a connexion failure or a main board failure.
Or replace the camera - a repair will cost almost as much.

Olympus 850 sw digital camera 2 yrs old! Used all day perfectly fine turned back on screen blank, still takes photos, Still flashes, still beeps when press buttons just lcd screen is black likes its off?...

Hi

Either the LCD screen is cracked or defective in some other manner. It's possible the LCD works but just the backlight is out as well. Either way, the camera needs to be opened and the LCD checked out.

The Olympus "Tough" and "SW" cameras are FAR FROM being either "Tough" or "S"hock and "W"aterproof. I have seen dozens and dozens of them with cracked glass over the LCD and destroyed by water damage. Sounds like something got inside your camera or it was badly dropped.

Hope this helps.

I think this is the lcd problem . it display only white display.. nothing else

One way to verify whether this is LCD problem is to take a picture and download it to PC. If the picture looks fine, then definitely, LCD problem.
