My Denon AVR2308 is frustrating me. I am running two zones (5.1 in main and zone 2 out of rear surround). I have made the audio setting to allow Zone 2 on/off, but i am stuck on how to turn sound off in the main zone (to allow zone 2 only watching). When i turn off main zone i also loose picture in zone 2 (but audio remians). I am using video inputs from satelite only, and upscaling to HDMI. I am wondering if this is the reason for this problem. What have i missed? Thanks for your help.

Greetings,
Unfortunately the AVR2308 does not have the zone 2 video output connector needed to pass video to a second zone. The AVR2808 was the first receiver in that year lineup to offer a video output to a second zone. There are many different types of video outputs on that receiver, but they are all associated with the Main zone. This is why you loose the video when you shut down the Main zone. With respect to your Zone 2; the small remote that came with the receiver should have all the power and volume features you need to operate Zone 2 while keeping the Main zone turned off. The only audio that can be passed to Zone 2 though has to be in an analogue format (using the red and white RCA connections). This receiver does not pass digital audio onto Zone 2. Best of luck!

I have lost the settings for 7 channel, it has gone back to 5 channel

If you have no Surround Back speakers defined it won't allow 7.1 operation. Or you have a Surround Back/Zone 2 setting wrong. Check your speaker definitions.

Denon AVR-2309C1 will not play sound through

Turn off zone 2 then turn your receiver on the main zone on Radio, tune in a station and check for audio. Post a comment and let me know if audio works that way. If you don't have any audio, list your other equipment makes and models as well as how they are interconnected to your receiver (cable type) and I will help you troubleshoot

Denon AVR-4802 multi-zone problem.

I had the same questions and still can't believe there isn't more information on the topic. It's crazy how much marketing Denon devotes to their Multi-Zone features yet offers very little reference materials on the actual set up. I guess most customers don't use the fearture? Here you go:

-The Multi-Zone on the Denon 4802 is analog only. If you are running digital coax or fiber you will have to run a second line that's analog (eg RCA red/white) from the source to the Denon in order for the signal to to make it to the Zone 2 speakers (regardless if it's Pre-Amp out or direct connect to the Zone 2 speakers from the multi/SB speaker outs. Regarding the Harmony question, I had the same problem with my Harmony 880 and wasn't able to find an answer after multiple searches. Luckily I figured it out when I deleted the receiver from the Logitec device list and started over. Connect the remote to your computer, launch the Logitec Harmony Remote Software, click the Devices tab, hit the Add Device, pick the device type & manufacturer from the drop down list, enter "AVR-4802" under Model and finally hit the Next button in the lower right corner of the UI. The next page solves the Harmony Zone 2 control problem. You will see a message "To use your device in additional zones/rooms, click the checkbox...." Make sure Room 2 is checked (mine was not), update the remote and you're done. The Harmony Device menu you will now contain a second receiver icon called "receiver 2." Hit "device" on the Harmony, choose "receiver 2" and you will gain control over Zone 2 including volume.

Good luck!

Denon AVR-3805 zone 2 no longer working

time to reset the microprocessor. See page 87 in manual.
1) switch off the unit using the main unit's power operation (small power button)
2) hold the PURE DIRECT button and DIRECT button at same time and turn the main unit's power operation on.
3) wait for entire display to flash in 1 second intervals

now the speakers need to be set up again but zone 2 will be working. i suspect a power surge causes the microprocesser to be corrupted. i put a power surge protector and have not had problems (lately).

Denon AVR 1609 Receiver Zone 2 has no sound

you have to change the power amp assignment to zone 2, you must also have Analog audio connections to the Denon from your devices.
Try this put your remote in the zone 2 mode, select tuner in zone 2 and turn zone 2 volume up to -10

Denon AVR-2105

If the Cd is wired digitally, it will only play through the main zone, because the Denon cannot convert down to RCA to cater for the zone 2. If you plug RCAs from Cd to Denon, Main zone will STILL play from digital, and RCA connection will allow zone 2 to play Cd from RCA input....same with dvd, Satellite Blah blah... no stress, any nasty RCA will do if you want to try before you splash out on really costly cables...perhaps you can help me...want to run AVR 2105 with 2 speakers in zone 2, manual says cant do it - only ably to surround back or biamp...dont want either, dont have stereo yet to try it out...did you have any trouble with that?

Denon AVR 883 Audio glitch

More than likely the protector circuit is getting activated... You can't go below 6 ohms on the surround back which means you need 12 ohm or higher speakers for outside (since the two outputs for surround back/zone2 are in parallel). As a simple diagnostic test, disconnect one speaker and see if the sound survives longer than 2 seconds.
