Similar problem...repairman said the bearings were gone though
During the spin cycle, mines is sounding like a jet plane backfiring! The repairman said the machine was OVER because the bearing is broken and he said the replacement parts would run around $650!
Re: Similar problem...repairman said the bearings were...
Bearing will make that noise, but bearings are inexpensive, 650 sounds insane, repairmen dont fix things anymore, he wants to replace the whole motor. call a different repairman

I assume you mean it sounds like a jet plane when it spins, if so, I suspect a bad tub bearing. Depending on age of the machine, probably too expensive to repair.
Erik? Do you either live next to an airport or on an approach pattern? Just wondering! No really...IF Your machine is making THAT much noise! Jeeze! You have a balance drum bearing gone! Maybe more. There are usually four of them located on the corners of the drum. They are throw away and buy new anywhere from $20-40 each. If you have no idea what I am talking about and your machine is over 7 yrs old. Get a new One!
a loud noise comes when you forget to remove shipping bolts after installation or if the shocks are worn out it makes noise thirdly the bearings might be worn out if the washer is more than 6years old
The bearing in the outer tub assembly is going out and you will need to replace it. Here is the part if you want to order it but you might want to look into buying another machine.
If it is making a sound like a loud rumbling sound similar to a jet plane taking off, it probally due to the seal has failed causing water to leak into the bearings. The bearings begin to rust, and no longer round and the noise gets progressively louder. It can be rather expensive to fix. Get a few estimates before deciding whether it is worth fixing.
most likely transmission bearings are worn out (sounds like a jet plane taking off) unfortunately this requires replacing the transmission which is a costly job.
