Broken Inspiron 1525 Lid

Hi.
Am trying to fix a friends Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. The screen is hanging on by just the wires. the hinges having been broken off. When I switch on windows begins to load but the screen becomes distorted with horizontal lines dancing across it, then after a few seconds the screen goes back to normal. This process continues every few seconds. There is a black wire that has broken off on the lefthand side but I cannot see where it should be attached. Could the problem be this wire or could it be the inverter.
Many thanks in advance

Mike

I have already found a new lid on ebay, but before I commit to buying it I need to make sure that the screen problem can be fixed first

Hello

To fix your laptop follow the steps given below.

  • First of all as your hinges are broken you have to buy a pair of hinges for your laptop model.
  • This hinge includes the whole assembly made up of metal with a part which attaches your screen to the laptop.
  • Now you have to open up your laptop from the backside and disassemble the upper side.
  • This will make you see the part which detaches tour screen from the laptop.Just remove the screws and your screen will be completely detached.
  • now you can replace the damaged hinges with the new one.
  • you have to remove four screws for one hinge. Two screws supporting the screen and two attaches the screen with the laptop.
  • so remove these screws and replace the hinges and pack the laptop again.
And the lines are basically due to the movement of loose connector. So while fixing please fix the connector also.

Thank you

My Inspiron 1525 laptop screen is dark on one side and also the sreen part is loose on the hinges?

Damaged inverter, or possibly loose contact / wire. If you feel confident, obtain a dismantling guide and remove the screen bezel and check the wire from the laptop to inverter and the inverter to the screen...carefully

Broken hinge

I'd be frustrated as well. Fortunately, your Inspiron is still under warranty - contact Dell. They may send a tech to fix, or you may need to send back the laptop to them to be fixed.

Hinges and top cracked on my Dell Inspiron 1525

unlikely that its still under warranty, but you can check the warranty status at support.dell.com
you may also find parts lists on their website. The plastic bezels on laptops aren't very hard to replace.

Broken hinge

Depending on the damage you can try to super glue it back.
Apart from that you will have to take it to a laptop repair shop and see what they say.
