They charge gets over very soon, even replaced the batteries

I have Sony DSC-F717, no matter for how long I keep the cells for charging, the charge gets over very soon, after 3-4 shots, the red button shows that the batteries need to be charged. I did replaced the batteries , but no use, still having the above problem.

Hi,
Please provide the correct camera model. If it is the Sony model mentioned then it uses an Infolithium battery pack which is charged in a very different manner then the one detailed above.
If the model is wrong and you have regular NIMh batteries then charge them for atleast 10 hours if using 2100 mah or above

I have a low battery indication with a fully charged battery on a Sony DSC-F717. What do I do?

First, even a fully charged battery may not be working right - VERY common.
Does the camera do this on two batteries, one old and one much newer? (I say this because lithium batteries are good for about 500 charges - if you are over this, the batteries will always read weak...)
A service shop can test the camera and see if the battery is reading correctly. A service shop may allow you to try the SHOP's good battery in your camera and see if it reads right. If OK, you need a new battery.

The service shop can reload the operating data into your camera - I have fixed them this way myself.
If not, the circuit board that handles charging and batteries may run you $275 plus labour. (The board is not repairable)

Sony DSC-F717 will only operate with the power cord not with battery power

You may just have to buy a new battery. Over time, the battery will hold less of a charge and eventually will not recharge at all to any useable level.

If you're lucky, your local camera store might be able to order one in. If you're not (since it's a fairly old camera, so far as the technology world is concerned), you may have to replace the camera.

Whether you get a new battery or a new charger, do not charge it right away.

Use it until the battery is completely dead, and then charge it. If you continue to only charge it when it is completely dead, you will extend the life of your battery.

My DSC-F707 won't record images.

Sounds like the CCD has developed a fault. I had a F717 which had similar faults but this turned out to be a batch of faulty CCD's which I know the F707 shared. This maybe why Sony are not keen to get involved as it will cost them money. JVC had a similar problem with some of it's Camcorders using a similar CCD and they replaced them FOC even those well out of warranty. Keep trying with Sony and mention the CCD and serial number of the F707 and see if it is one of the faulty batch.

Battery fully charged but my Sony F717 just unable to switch on.

Problem is occour in camera power supply section. There are 4 fuse in BT-015 Board if they are okay than check FR-194 Board. on this board IC001 DC control is faulty. I hope problem will be solved

DSC-F717 won't turn on

You are correct. The battery has lost it`s life.

Contact your nearest Sony dealer and ask them for the NP-F50 battery which I think your camera uses.

The reason why the battery still shows it is charging ( if your interested ) is due to the sensing cct - you will see your battery has three poles and not just 2. The sensing pin is faulty due to the buildt in PCB having a problem. The batteries probably are still ok inside, but the sensing cct does the actual charge control.

Best of luck.
