I'm using Pennytel and have a problem. They tell me i need to disable call waiting ... which, if i do have it, it certainly isn't functioning. I need to get to admin on my Linksys SPA-3102 in order to disable call waiting and they say i need to get to the above IP address to do it.
My problem is that when i am on the phone and someone else calls it just rings out. There is no engaged signal and no call waiting. People think I'm out all the time which is not good for business.
You need to have a wired network connection between your pc and the 3102, using an ethernet cable. Once you have that and the light are on on both ends of the connection, go to Control panel, Network Connections and identify the connection, normally Local area Connection.
Right click and edit Properties, look for TCP/IP and change it from automatic to set as 192.168.1.10 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
Don't bother about any of the rest. If it is already set up manually, MAKE SURE you note down all the settings before you change anything. Then open a web browser to 192.168.1.2 and make sure you click on Admin and Advanced on the toolbar. You can turn off call waiting from there if it is set up, but I don't recall the 3102 as supporting it. Frankly, the 3102 is a POS, and you should replace it.
You do not need the software that comes with any modem:
Reset the router:
To restore the factory default configuration settings without knowing the administration password
or IP address, you must use the reset button on the rear panel of the router.
1. Press and hold the reset button until the Power LED turns red (about 6 seconds).
2. Release the reset button and wait for the router to reboot.
To log in to the modem router:
1. Type http://routerlogin.net or http://192.168.0.1 in the address field of an Internet browser.
Enter admin for the user name and password for the password, both in lower case letters.
NAT automatically assigns private IP addresses (10.1.1.x) to
LAN-connected devices.
? Enable. Usually NAT is enabled.
? Disable. This disables NAT, but leaves the firewall active.
Disable NAT only if you are sure that you do not require it.
When NAT is disabled, only standard routing is performed
by this router. Classical routing lets you directly manage the
IP addresses that the DG834G v4 uses. Classical routing
should be selected only by experienced users*
? Disable Firewall. This disables the firewall in addition to
disabling NAT. With the firewall disabled, the protections If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays! Thanks, Joe

Thanks Gareth! I'm going to give it a try - it's Saturday morning here in Sydney so i need to wait until the kids aren't around... Meanwhile, can you recommend what i should replace the 3102 with? I only bought it because it was the one Pennytel was offering as part of a sign up deal - i'm happy to change to something better.
