Light remote control stopped working

I have a Hunter Model 27185 All-Fan Remote Fan & Light Control that has worked well for years. Recently, the light control function ceased working even though the fan control function keeps working fine. What can I do?

Most of my fan controls have done this to me. you know the reciever is working cuz the fan works fine. you need to dis assemble the remote completely and clean the contacts for the light button. mine are two small black dots that seem to keep getting slimey and wont work till i clean them, then all works like brand new again.

good luck.

I was able to get the light to turn on after cleaning the contacts (thanks for that tip) but now the remote won't turn off the light. It turns the fan on and off but not the light. The light not being able to turn off by the remote has been an ongoing issue.

First, make sure there are good batteries in the remote.

If light still doesn't work, I would suspect the receiver in the fan ceiling box.

The receiver can be tested with a multi-meter, but if you're not experienced with electrical troubleshooting, it's probably best just to replace the remote system, both receiver & transmitter.

I have a Hunter Ceiling Fan Model No. 27185. I can control the fan with the remote but can not control the lights with the remote. is there some instructions on how to operate the system?

27185 is the model # of the remote. Check to make sure your light wires are connected at the light fixture & receiver. Also, make sure your dip settings are set on the same frequency. Lastly, push the light button & pull the chain on the light.

I installed a Hunter On"Off fan and light control model 27157 on a Hunter Augusta fan model 21338. I tested the remote control and the fan and light on, however, after a period of time, the fan turns on...

Most likely this is caused by radio interference from some other device nearby. Try changing the "channel" by changing the dip switches on both devices and make sure they match. :)

Can't control light at switch

It is wired so that you control the light with the remote. You cannot have it both ways. You either control it with the wall switch or the remote. Once you kill the power to the receiver by turning off power at the wall switch, you are only applying power to the receiver when you turn power back on. You are not supplying power to the light. You then must turn on the light with the remote. This is the purpose of a remote fan/light control. You could rewire it to control the light with the switch and only control the fan with the remote if you wish, but as you have it now, it is working correctly.

Trouble with hunter remote 27185

The problem is most likely a interruption in power. I just e-mailed Hunter asking if I could stop this from happening since my fan is over the bed. Their reply is as follows... The light will come on after power is restored following an interruption. This is a design feature of the remote control and cannot be modified or adjusted. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Remote model 27185

make sure that you wire BOTH the black and black & white striped wires together to the supply, or the light won't work.

Hunter Remote Control # 27185

Do not use the factory default position in either fan. Double check the dip switches, and make sure they are the same for each individual receiver and remote.Different codes for each. Dip switches are the oppsite direction in the remote for some reason?
