First thing to check, If you turn your monitor on to the correct input you should be able to see an immage from your receiver. It may be a setup screen, blue screen or flash as you change inputs on the receiver. If you do not see anything from the receiver check the HDMI cable from the monitor out of the receiver to the input on your monitor. Next is the setup of the DVD player and the Yamaha receiver. Check that the receiver HDMI ports are turned on and assigned to the correct port. Check that the disc player is setup to out put HDMI and that formats like DTS are turned on if your receiver supports this. This will give you the best picture and sound out of the equipment you have. To get in to the set up of your DVD player and receiver and use the on screen display you may need to connect them to the monitor with a composite video cable first. Make sure the monitor is on the correct input. Once you have finished the setup you should be able to switch the monitor back to the HDMI input.

I have a toshiba laptop a205 I have the usb adapter to hdmi cable hooked up to the tv I cant get picture or sound

First, you need to check the input setting on the TV (change it to HDMI and which HDMI because some TV have more than one HDMI input).
Second, please check the Output on the laptop (cycle it; laptop only, external monitor only, both of the screens).

Hdmi issues

What are you trying to do? Connect to a tv? If so make sure you take the remote to the tv and press Select Input, then select HDMI as the input source (or it might be PC, but most likely HDMI). Then reboot the laptop and the display should be on the tv.

The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

I HAVE CONNECTED A HDMI CABLE FROM MY LAPTOP TO MY TV TO USE IT AS MY MONITOR BUT CANT GET THE PICTURE TO PROJECT ON THE TV

First make sure you have the correct input selected on the TV.
Then, enter hardware setup menu on your laptop to the section for monitors. If your laptop hardware has automatically detected that you have a "new" monitor, it will be available to select to use from a list.
Regardless of the laptop model you have, anything you'll have to do to get picture after selecting your input will have to be configured from the laptop.

Samsung T220HD - can't access HDMI input sources

If it like my monitor, same hookups as yours, then when you want to use the hdmi port you need to disconnect the dvi cable. The monitor cannot read from hdmi & dvi when both are connected, Try this & see if your PS3 works. Good luck.
