You need to check the formator. This is the board that controls the printer. First make sure that the board gets enough power. You need to check the formator. This is the board that controls the printer. First make sure that the board gets enough power.

Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer on.
If the error message returns, turn the printer off.
Perform a cold reset.
Turn the printer on.
Watch the control panel.
When the memory starts counting, press and hold the green (Select) button.
Continue holding the green (Select) button until the Ready, Data, and Attention lights flash once, and then stay on steady.
Release the check button when the Ready, Data, and Attention light are on steady. The control panel will display SELECT LANGUAGE.
Press (Down Arrow) button once. The control panel will display COLD RESET.
Press (Select). The printer will perform a cold reset and then continue its power-on sequence. NOTE: If this message persists, you will need to contact an HP-authorized support provider.
Turn off printer. Power on and watch the display, when the memory count starts, press and hold "6" on the keypad. Keep holding until the three lights on the control panel stay on. Release "6" and then press the "3" button until display reads "cold reset". Then press the "6" once more and until will reset.
The HP M2727 has a known issue with the scanner error 8 and bad formatters. HP has extended the warranties on this product. I suggest you contact them directly and they will most likely exchange the unit.
it may be a fuser issue-- you need to replace the fuser ..also go to this link and read the issues and solution for thsi MFP printer-- it could also be a universal print driver issue.
HP Laserjet 4345MFP Backlight on printer display does not light. Counts up the 256MB memory then HP logo (3 sizes) appears (just visible) The 3 lights keep cycling on the display. Thats it, does nothing else. It has been left overnight and continues to display the logo and cycling 3 lights. Rear DC Cont Fan is turning. No other fans or activity with machine. When ADF/scanner/mfp or hard disk are disconnected it does recognise this and throws an error and asks for reboot. I have tried cold reset, nvram init. and hard disk init. but no difference. Your thoughts?

To perform a cold reset 1 Turn the MFP off and then on. 2 When the memory count appears on the control-panel display, press and hold 6 until all three LEDs flash once and then stay on. This might take up to 20 seconds. 3 Press 3 four times until COLD RESET appears on the control-panel display. 4 Press 6 one time. The MFP continues its initialization sequence.
Try an nvram Try doing a hard or reset or nvram: 1. Turn the printer off 2. Hold down the right arrow and the cancel button 3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.
if this does not work contact hp, if within 2 years from the purchase date ask for a case number to have the printer serviced under a service note.
Turn off printer. Hold the CANCEL and > buttons, and turn on printer. When you see Permanent Storage Init release the two buttons. When the process completes you will see the ready message. This will reset ALL menu settings. If you screwed up the firmware update, you will have to replace the formatter. The NVRAM reset won't help you!!!
