Picture jumping I have a Hitachi Ultravision projection TV which is about 10 years old and recently the picture has been jumping a lot. It will stabilize for awhile but then does it again. Today seems the worst as picture didn't come on at all for a few seconds even though I changed channels but then finally did and now is jumping and double images. Do you have any idea what the problem is and approximate cost to repair/replace whatever part? Keith

Hitachi 60" Ultravision TV - bad green tube that is leaking

If this has only started to leak recently, get an estimate from a local servicer for a coolant replacement for that tube. The coolant is corrosive and needs to be cleanedup ASAP from any circuit board that it has touched before there is damage. This is NOT a DIY repair. Expect a repair cost in the $300 range for parts and labor. If the set had a good picture prior to this, it may be worth the repair. This is your call. Do not delay however, as any delay will increase the likelyhood that there will be more damage that needs repair.

check the solder around the area of the vertical IC. solder is either cracked or else cold. Cold solder appears as dull. Resolder anything that isnt shiny.

I have a 50 inch hitachi ultravision that has no picture or sound but power light is on

Probably a 'cold or detatched' solder joint on a component on that perticular circuit board you are 'wedging' with a plastic rod.

Hitachi ultravision

Check IC601, C603 for leakage, I601 and vertical pulse detector QN05

for poor convergence check RK42 for open circuit.
