The light on my 4200f stays on even after scan is done. I am sure it did not do this before. I tried uninstalling software and reinstalling but light still on. Any help?
Thanks
Ditto and latest drivers installed. Light is on even when PC is off, i.e. just mains connected.Ditto and latest drivers installed. Light is on even when PC is off, i.e. just mains connected.

There is a lamp shut-off time adjustment in ScanGear. Go into ScanGear's Advance Mode and click Preferences. One of the four tabs will have an option for Lamp Shut-Off time. Set it as desired.

You need to install the scanning program first, it should be in a CD when you purchase the scanner. Install the program, install scanner to make sure that scanner works. Once it's done, you lauch a program, put you document in scan and scan it, the image should be saved into your computer.
Thanks
Make sure if your scanning documents that the white plastic shield is on and if your scanning film this need to be removed. Make sure you also selected the proper item that you are scanning.
First, try unplugging and re-seating the USB cable in your computer. I am assuming your scanner is not making any noise when you first turn on the computer. If that is not the case, respond back with more information. This is the most common solution to this problem with these scanners though.
Hi,
This is normal for the 4200F and it's just the time taken to warm the scanning lamp up. Once it's warmed up it shouldn't need to go through the process again for any additional scans, unless it's had long enough to cool down again of course.
I've noticed from another answer to an earlier question that if it's a big problem you can change the following keys in your registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Canon\ScanGear\8.6\Devices\CNQ4200 Energy save changed to 1 Lamp Off Time changed to 0 Looks like this would prevent your lamp switching off at all unless you unplugged your scanner which would undoubtedtly shorten your bulb life. It may be a better idea to play about with the 'lamp off' key number until it just stays on long enough to not cause you problem.
Because the slides are see through which means you will need a special add on for the scanner for it to support slides. If you have this already then make sure that it is fitted on properly so no light can get in the compartment where the slides are held during the scan
This solution does not work. On MAc there is no way to use this scanner. Canon sucks!!! There was no info about supported os on the box. It is just unfair to sell products without providing drivers for users.
