The phone line is correctly connected to the all-in-one but...

I have an OfficeJet 6310 and I have connected the phone line correctly. I am sure because when i plug the cord to a phone it works fine. When I start a fax, it sounds like it tries to get a line but no dial tone...

To be sure your phone is plugged in properly try picking up a different phone in your home with the fax also plugged into a phone line. The fax display should indicate "Phone off hook".
If the problem still persits, turn off the power to the printer/fax then turn it back on. This reboots the software and usually fixes the problem.

I can not send or receive fax.

I would check and verify you have dial tone on the phone line and its plugged in correctly, possibly replace the phone wire from wall to fax if necessary.

My HP 6310 printer / fax is too far away from the phone line. Is there a way to fax wirelessly using this printer?

Only if you have fax software on your computer and scan an image to the computer to fax, otherwise you need a really long phone cable you can buy at Radio Shack or Best Buy.

HP Officejet 6310 will no longer receive a fax, but can send one

Have you checked the online support guides to make sure your fax is connected properly. There is a lot to work through, but you should be able to test your setup and see if you can send faxes but not receive them. See links here, here, and here. Treat the credit card machine as if it were a telephone answering device or another phone on the line.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Ink Cartridge problem

The 6310 takes a #95 tri-color cartridge. #901 is for Officejet 4500 and 4600 series printers.
